Hi there,

i'm thinking about injecting some SP. Would like to know in advance what exactly i can make out of them.

Is there a way (Websites or 3rd party programs?!) to determine how many unallocated SP i need to skill something specific like XY Cruiser V (+ all required skills)?

Short version:
Is 2 mio enough for a heavy assault cruiser?

Skills come in different "multiplication" levels. If a x1 skill takes for example 1000SP to go from level 1 - level 2, a x2 skill will take 2000. A x4 skill will take 4000. You can see this figure in the Show Info box for all skills.

There are a few third party applications like PYFA that you can use to build fits and see what you need to train to make it happen.

I don't think 2M SP is enough to fly a HAC with any degree of strength, but it really depends what you're on now. Idea being you can quickly train to sit in a hull, and still not have the support skills anywhere near high enough to fly it well. Think about your core skills like capacitor / tanking / maneuverability skills, these are often called support skills since they effect every ship you will fly. Always ensure good support skills to match training into a larger / higher tier hull, or you will be flying an expensive coffin.

Good luck out there, feel free to contact me by eve mail for a chat.

You can make a skill plan in EveMon and it will tell you how long to train or how many injectors you will need. You can also import a fit and it will generate the necessary skill plan to fly the ship and use all the modules, but you will have to make sure to train the support skills as I think it just plans for the mandatory skills.

As others have said, Evemon is an excellent tool but it is somewhat out of date with no significant updates in a year.

To see what is needed to fly any ship in the game open the in-game ship tree, cllick the info sheet for the ship you are interested in. The requirements tab will tell you what skills are needed and how long it will take to train them. That is basically to "sit" in the ship

Support skills are found on the mastery tab. Aim for level 3 mastery to fly the ship effectively.

Level 1 (1 square): 256 points
Level 2 (2 squares): 1,414 points
Level 3 (3 squares): 8,000 points
Level 4 (4 squares): 45,255 points
Level 5 (5 squares): 256,000 points

That's for a Rank (difficulty) 1 skill. For higher rank skills, multiply the rank into the numbers. For example, rank 8 battleship skills would have the numbers above multiplied by 8.

Edit: To get your answer about the HAC, show info on the Heavy Assault Cruisers skill, and look at the skill prerequisites. Then show info on the actual ship that you want to fly, and look at its prerequisites. Since HACs are about combat with heavy resistance tanking, add in the skills required to fit T2 weapons (and drones?) that the HAC ship can use, plus figure out that your "core" support skills (armor, shields, navigation, engineering, etc.) should be at 3-4 at least, so your ship isn't gimped.

I know that all Tech 2 ships have one or two skills that must be at level 5, so meeting those prerequisites will eat some 256,000 chunks out of your 2 million SP. Possibly even half of it. So it really depends on what skills you already have trained, how much of the support skills you already have, etc.
