If you have people that don't salvage their missions and they are alliance or corp mates you can salvage them some kill everything but don't loot or salvage which is where my noctis comes in

Some punk called "Call Me Betty" looted and blew away two MTUs during a mission. I came up on him when in the mission, and realized I couldn't lay a finger on him. What dung!

I'm back to the Noctis. MTUs are a big waste of money when all you're doing is feeding this generation of "Ninja salvagers".

Been there and I sympathise with your grief but… Usually when someone says "X is a waste of…" it usually translates to "I don't know how to use X" or "X does not fit well in my playing style".

Come on, MTUs are just a tool, with its uses and abuses. It all boils down to knowing when and how to utilise them.

Happy salvaging. o7

I don't bother with MTU's, just use a Noctis which works great. Course that's just for large missions, usually the Salvage Drones I carry in my combat ship pretty much clears out all wrecks by the time I get done collecting the loot.

My system is to clear the mission, then come back with the Noctis to tractor/salvage the wrecks. No anchoring, no wasted cargo capacity in the BS.
The time-consuming part is sorting through the loot afterwards to figure out what's worth selling, what's worth hoarding, and what's going to be fed through the reprocessing and used to make ammo.

There is an easy way to do this. Drag all of your loot items into the reprocessing preview. Right click and remove anything with a yellow asterisk - as this marker is telling you when the market value is substancially greater than scrap. Scrap the rest and sell the minerals along with all your salvage. Even selling to buy orders you should not have any items below -20% if you are trading in a reasonably sized trade hub.
