i noticed that a battleship (with hybrid turrets) is very ineficient when shot to a littleship, for example, shot to a destroyer or frigate..

This puts me to think that with a destroyership and a good strategy one can well destroy a battlecruiser although it would be quite difficult according to the enemy tank level, but in theory it would be posible because a destroyer orbiting at high speed is difficult to be Target or being reached for the enemy´s shots ..

Smaller targets are harder to hit and faster moving (sideways) targets are also harder to hit.

And yes frigates can totally kill battleships if they have more dps than the battleship can repair, the battleship will have hard time hitting frigate if it is not designed to do so.

Big weapons by design do only a fraction of the damage to small targets. Or fast targets. The weapon has "signature resolution" and "tracking" stats, and the target ship has "signature radius" = size, and angular speed.

On the other hand, small weapons don't do enough DPS to punch through a big ship's tank. Also by design.

So, with these rules, the results are:

- 1 vs. 1, big ship vs. small ship, it's likely that the small ship will survive, at least long enough to apply electronic warfare (tackling).

- If you want to kill a big ship, you need to bring MANY small ships, to do enough DPS. This is called a wolf pack fleet, and is a pretty good tactic.

- Big ships have to have other weapons to take out small ships. Drones, energy neutralizers, and smartbombs are all effective at taking out frigates and destroyers. Target painters and webifiers are also partially effective.

You can easily destroy NPC battleships in a frigate. I killed around 10 in a row with an Atron and got around a mil+ reward for each.It becomes boring fast though. Player Reload has a video about how to do it on YouTube.

Sometimes nothing can be a real cool hand.

If you want to kill a battleship in a solo frigate you will likely need to use the damage type which they are weakest against.

That is a link to a flash based tutorial which acts as an introduction to turret mechanics in Eve. Turrets track faster against ships with a larger signature radius than that turrets signature resolution and slower against ships with a smaller signature radius as compared to the turrets signature resolution.

Here is a link to the Agony Unleashed tracking and spiralling video that teaches you how to get under battleship guns:

As a general rule, big weapons work best against big targets, small weapons work best against small targets.

If you are flying a big ship and are worried about being attacked by small ships, having some light or medium drones is one way to deal with the small ships.

If you are flying a big ship in PVE such as missions or ratting, big weapons can hit small ships provided you keep the small ships at long range. A small PVE pirate ship will fly towards you in a straight line, making it easier for a big weapon to stay locked onto them and hit them. Once the small ship is close enough to you to circle around you (orbit you), the big weapons will have real problems trying to hit the small ship.

There are weapon systems that a big ship can use that work better at hitting small targets, but those weapons tend to have limited range, and even with their improved ability to stay locked onto a target at close range, they can still have problems with small targets that are very close to you.

Hybrid turrets have two main versions. The long range hybrid guns are called railguns. Good at shooting something that is a long distance from you,, bad at shooting something that is close to you. The short range hybrid guns are called blasters. Good at shooting targets that are close to you, but blasters do not have the ability to shoot at targets that are a long distance from you.

There are similar versions of projectile turrets (artillery and autocannon), laser turrets (beam and pulse lasers) and missile launchers (light missiles and rockets for frigates and destroyers, heavy missiles and heavy assault missiles for cruisers and battlecruisers, cruise missiles and torpedos for battleships).

Missiles have their own limitations. As long as the target is in range of the missiles, the missiles do not miss, but how much damage they do depends on the size and speed of the target you shoot at and the size of the missiles. Big missiles only do a limited amount of damage to small targets travelling at high speed.

Every ship a player can fly and every weapon system a player can use has a combination of advantages and disadvantages. There is no perfect ship that can do everything equally well, and there is no perfect weapon system that can hit every target equally well. The Eve developers put a lot of time and effort into making sure that all types of ships and weapons can be useful for something. It's up to the players to decide which ships and weapons are useful for the tasks we want to do.
