Hi-Sec Bear hunting as an Alpha clone ?

Hello there,

First, i'm not sure this is the right place for my questions, but because it involves some pew-pew and a bit of criminal flag, i'll try here. If it is the wrong place, then feel free to move this or tell me to close it.

As a returning bear who want to grow some teeth, I see the drone event as a good way to create content for high-sec players (or, more specificaly, use Hi-sec players as a content for me). I'd rather loot the skins from a "rich" player cargohold than a poor lonely drone. Unfortunately, I am unable at the moment to upgrade to an omega clone (and as soon as it is possible, I'll move out of High-Sec), and I was wondering if as an alpha clone I have any chance against HS bears runing the drone sites ? Of course, I'm talking about those using T1 ships, others would be suicide.

And if yes, I don't really know what would be a good choice for the ship to use.

My first idea was an Incursus as this little beast seems to be very good for PvP. I know frigates can go under large guns, but would it work with medium guns from cruisers and BC, or will they murder me ?

Other possibility is to go bigger with a Cruiser, but not sure if I have any chances as my skills will be limited as an Alpha...

I have characters from each race with maxed out (or almost) Alpha skills, so I'm not limited to a single race.

Of course, if anything is wrong with my request, let me know (except for the "PvP is not in High-Sec", I know that and my plan is to move out of High-Sec as soon as it will be possible for me ^^).

Thanks for your help,

Feyd's carebear to killer is worth a read, he likes his implants but does have a nasty dual rep Incursus fit that can be adapted to your alpha restrictions.

Ralph and Omar are regular posters here and did/do this kind of thing all the time, they'll probably throw some pointers in when they see the thread.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Talk shite all you want, the man presented a wealth of comprehensive information regarding the finer points of fuckery in high sec before he went to the deep dark.
It WORKS, that is what matters.
That said, if any aspiring newbro asshats want some direct guidance on the matter I'm almost always more than welcome to spread the love via mail.
Sometimes in person.
I will not teach you how to be elite pvp.
I am terrible at space bushido, but I know how to put a knife in a kidney.
I will, if you're inclined, teach you how to ruin a carebear's day in a manner that will leave them fully gobsmacked.
Otherwise, read the thing. Do the stuff.
Does not require spendy to harvest the iskies, motivation... knowledge... and a victim high on their own arrogance.
That'll do.

Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.

Just don't ask them to circle around them while you drop a load of information on their feeble faces.... It never sticks.

Irony, thy name is Omar.

Look, what I know about EvE could be inscribed on a penny with a dull sword, and have room for the full Imperial Infantrymans Uplifting Primer alongside...

But I am pretty well informed on people. Specifically MMO playing peoples.

If your desire is to be the "bad guy" when you play, then by all means, go for it breh! (Could be argued that the field in question is wholly oversaturated, but hey. **** it.)

And if you want to host a blog where you make a specific point of humiliating your victims, hey, I won't stand in your way.

But when youre posting salt to CCP because your victims posted salt to CCP, and when CCP alters game mechanics because despite commonly accepted lore, it is their game/rule set, and they can change it whenever they damn well please, and you abandon your self-styled "Prince of HTFU" to rage-quit and throw your toys out of the pram (like the people you mocked on your blog)...

Well... that's your choice too.

Just sorta... You know. Doesn't really align with advocating the premise of HTFU, does it?
(And it might make you seem like a hypocritical whiner.)

Ask a simple question and watch 4 dudes pee all over each other! Putting the PEE in C&P never goes out of fashion.

Mo (when he's around) is pretty helpful for the solo shenanigans. Pretty much anyone can help you.

Word of wisdom though. You won't be happy as an alpha for very long. Once you hit the alpha ceiling you'll either sub up or rage about your limited existence and then quit. That's the future for an alpha. Free Eve isn't a fun Eve. If you like the game at all - you'll want more than an alpha can ever offer.

Alpha is just unlimited free trial so you can Learn To Be Bad...er....Good.

And yeah, damn I miss Feyd.

Yop,

thanks all for the replies. A new about Feyd's blog and I read it a year ago, but any reminder is welcome ^^.

I tried to fit an incursus yesterday night, and with meta modules + T2 when possible, everything goes in without fitting modules or implants. However, DPS is rather low with Alpha skills (110 dps including drones).

I tried to get some engagements, but either nobody was running the drone sites, or there were 3 ships... I only collected 1M bounty, but hey, I have to start somewhere low to then rise up ^^.

@Serendipity : I'm already raging about Alpha limitations... During my last Eve time, I was flying CovOps and Inty, had good combat and fitting skills... I know Alpha will never give all the fun Eve can have, but that's fine. I will be more than happy to pay for Eve as soon as I have enough time to invest.

Anyway, back to space tonight, I'll try to score my first kill.

Thanks again for your help.

Fly safe.

Your best bet as a Gallente Alpha is the Tristan.

Fit t2 as much as you can, meta 4 for the stuff you cant.

You may also want to consider using a Navy Maulus...I've seen some ninja looters use a Venture because its fast, cheap, and almost impossible to lock down due to the built-in warp stabs. Navy Maulus is basically a Tristan with scram bonuses...and what bonuses they are...:)

Best of all, an Alpha can fly it.

Everything in EVE is a trap.

And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

Hello,

thanks for the imput. I spent few hours flying with a dual rep incrusus, steeling some loots and trying to get any bear to engage. Only manage to get 1 to shoot at me, and it was a Vexor. No need to say that my ship was not able to evade drones damages. My tank was holding, but not my cap, even with cap booster. At the end, I had to leave, half structure and out of cap.

I tried to reengage him 2 minutes later, but he had refill his drones and again, not enough cap to run my reps long enough to kill all his drones.

However, this was a good training, and I noticed some mistakes on the first engagment that I corrected on the second one.

I will stick to this ship a little longer, but I'll also give a try to the Tristan, and to the Maulus when my pilots skills improve.

Thanks again for your help.
