Greetings Capsuleers,

We have received several reports from players that the latest drivers for AMD GPU’s are blocking the EVE client from starting up. We are currently investigating the issue internally, and are working closely with AMD to resolve the matter.

Our initial investigation points to the issue starting with driver version: 17.4.4 if you are on an AMD GPU with an earlier driver version and are unable to start EVE please reply to this thread and file a bug report.

For us to continue the investigation, if anyone can reproduce this issue, please do file a bug report containing as much information as possible. This can be done via our bug reporting page on the following website:

One of my machines has an Rx480, and I am having this issue. I'm currently on driver version 17.5.2. I filed a bug report for this before I saw this thread, so I'll link your post in my ticket.

I reverted to 17.2.1 and seems to launch in DX11 fine now.

If you guys are having trouble, just revert back to older drivers.

I'm using Sapphire HD7950.

This is ****, update your fecking gfx stuff, or get AMD doing theirs, a "little" tired at being forced to play in dx9.

Oh, and don't ever let everyones child touch perfectly working things...
That has happened to often.

Ok so I reverted back to 17.2.1 and Eve worked 100% fine.

But a day later it won't launch again. I was confused and checked my drivers again.

What happens is Windows Update and/or AMD will auto update/downgrade drivers to 17.1.1

Eve won't launch in 17.1.1 either.

If this happens, what you need to do is keep Windows Update/AMD from auto-updating GPU drivers.

Used DDU and did a clean install of 17.2.1 and Eve launches and plays fine in DX11 again.

Thanks to all of you that have provided us with bug reports and customer support tickets. All of them have been incredibly helpful with our investigation into this issue. On Friday AMD released a new set of drivers, 17.6.1 Optional driver. After applying this update we have been unsuccessful in reproducing the issue in house, but are still investigating as to what could have caused this.

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

For those of you who were able to reproduce this issue, could you all attempt to update to 17.6.1 and see if that allows you to run the EVE client. If the issue is still presenting itself post update, please comment underneath and send in a bug report with as much information as possible so we can continue investigating this with AMD.

Everything seems to be working fine after updating to AMD Radeon 17.6.1 driver.

"eveDevice: No valid display adapter found" error don't appear anymore.

I have been having this issue with my Radeon for the last several hours, tried updating to the latest WHQL drivers, same results. Just tried out the Optional drivers listed in this thread, and still the same results.

My machine is:

Windows 8.1 64 bit -- fully updated
Intel Core i5 3.4 ghz
16GB DDR3 1600mhz ram
Radeon R7 200 series -- latest optional drivers 17.6.2
Intel z97 chipset motherboard, also fully updated.

Not sure if this is the same problem, but I am suddenly having issues with the game freezing and then being forced to close the client through the task manager. Then I find I'm unable to reconnect. It was alright yesterday, but today? Anyway the problem message that came up for the Eve exefile. was as follows:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: exefile.exe
Application Version: 2017.6.115.1974
Application Timestamp: 59395584
Fault Module Name: XAudio2_7.dll
Fault Module Version: 9.29.1962.0
Fault Module Timestamp: 4c0641e5
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 00036b4c
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48

Am I reading that right? Could it be as simple as an audio file that's the problem?

Hey everyone. I'm running into a similar issue on my R9 390. I'm getting an error stating that exefile.exe has been blocked from accessing my Graphics Hardware (computer usually crashes to a black screen). I found this old post:

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=6612601

General consensus is to switch to DX9 as a temp fix. I'm testing it out now on my rig and so far so good. Maybe this will work for you while CCP investigates javascript:insertsmiley('Big smile','/Images/Emoticons/ccp_smile-big.png')

We're still looking into this issue and are attempting to reproduce this in house so we can diagnose what the actual issue is here. At the moment I've not been successful but will continue to investigate. In the mean time, if AMD release an update to their optional drivers, I would suggest updating to those and seeing if that is able to solve these issues.

I'm getting the exact same issue (exefile.exe has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware) with an AMD R7 360. Switching to the latest optional driver (17.6.2) actually made it happen more frequently. The game generally crashes while I'm in a ratting site. I've quit trying them before I end up losing a ship. A fix would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I am getting the same issue with my system. It works for a while when using a frigate but freezes up when the assets on the screen increase , Ie rats or jump gate are encountered. If I launch a retriever and hit a jump gate it crashes immediately - video driver goes to black screen 3 times then I get the application blocked from accessing graphics hardware error message

Gigabyte Motherboard - 970A-DS39
AMD FX-8320 Eight-Core CPU
16GB Ram
Radeon R7- 360 2GB Video Card
Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit
DirectX 12

This started 2 days ago, was using the 17.1.1 video driver, updated to the newest version with no change in problem

Tried again today with the same result (exefile.exe has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware) using an AMD R7 360, driver version 17.6.2, AMD 6-core processor, Windows 10 64-bit.

Game crashes constantly when doing missions or ratting sites, sometimes just while jumping gates. So EVE is pretty much unplayable for me and has been for over a week.

I hope this is still being looked into and we'll have a fix soon.

as of today with the newest drivers (17.7.1 ) I can start eve again, but all my UI settings are lost :(

The game i pay for is still not working... Im starting to be pissed off, after every single patch there is problems with EVE. Maybe use less affirmative action when hireing ppl and more ppl because they are qualified... And qualified ppl you lack, obviously...
