Brother, unless you're making soft backups of your memory, then hiding in the dark won't be doing you a whole lot of good. God forbid a shelf fall on you or something. That pod's your immortality; A lot of people seem to be forgetting that.

If I knew a man was out to axe me, I'd be stuck in my pod 24/7. Maybe add a nutrient solution and feeding tube to my ectoplasm in the pod, and market a new "fish food" system. Guarantees you never need to leave your tank!

Besides, walking around in the dark just means you keep smashing your shins on things. Perhaps whoever is out to get him is super-cunning and this is a means to kill him via 'Death by a Thousand Bruises'...

Also, he's going to need a serious tanning pod, vitamin D deficiency can be a real pain.

Better to just wear a decent combat suit and carry a big gun when planetside in this instance.

It's okay. I very rarely bang my shins on things. I'm Minmatar. We are very used to very tiny lighting budgets.

What kind of defective pods do you fly that don't already have this?

Maybe he hasn't noticed. I've met capsuleers who are surprisingly ignorant of the basic amenities available to them and just what their wealth can procure

He should try living in the pod for a few years uninterrupted. He'll be very familiar with it.

Huh. Might need to order a spare pod so I can disassemble it and run through the onboard systems and features myself.

To be honest, the longest I've been stuck in a pod was about three days out of necessity. Hate the damn thing. Nothing's better than eating real food, or walking around the interior of the ship, seeing crewmates, that sort of deal.

As I remembered it, RMS capsuleer candidates were walked through the basics of capsule operation, made to study the schematics, and were even quizzed about it.

You meant to say Science and Trade Institute did things differently?

This is reprehensible. Taking some moody teen's journal entry and making an IGS thread with it...

I might not have been entirely awake at that time.

C'mon, station security work and rock-breaking classes to getting tubes stuck in your head is a pretty big leap.

To be fair, every time I looked like I was about to doze off, the guard walks right up to me and jabs stims into my neck.

We were also required to turn up with our standard-issue thermoflasks. There were regular inspections, to make sure there's actually coffee in them. And none of the standard coffee either. Very specific Synthkaff variant, to ensure everyone gets exactly the right amount of caffeine in their system. We were also expected to finish them 30 minutes into the tutorial. Yes, they checked.

They actually checked your thermoflasks? I got checked once in my whole time, and coffee in it would have been bad. Water only. Though we usually didn't....

The instruction team for my cohort was very, very strict.

Ya, still suprised they allowed coffee though. Mine was kinda' a push over but still it was bare essentials or go without. Coffee would have been a major issue. Different instructors different rules I guess, then again you graduated long before me if I'm not mistaken.

It's to ensure maximum wakefulness, especially considering that we turn in at, what? 3am and wake up at 5am for morning exercise, tutorials, conditioning...

Then we get to the sense-deprivation tanks.
