Hello everyone

What is the lazy dude(tte) fit for a Paladin, Mega Pulse or Tachyons? What are your opinions?

Granted no serious bling!

for pve i would say go with tachs
much better damage projection overall
tracking shouldnt be a problem if you use mjd to bounce into better position for smaller stuff

pulses, you can have fecemeltygoodness at close range and then swap instantly to hit over 100k
assuming you carry scorch and a decent fit.

its versatile.
that being said

Both work great, actually, so long as you adjust your combat style accordingly.

Personally I prefer pulses because the extra tracking is always nice. And you can use the MJD to get to anything that is initially too far away to damage properly, which you would need equipped to get away from if you had Tachys anyway. The extra tracking in the pulses is great to have since most enemies in most missions will be under 60km anyway, which is where tachys start to have problems tracking.

Scorch might be what everyone cites, but I found Radio is perfectly usable to nail the small stuff that is far away.

I do use Tachy for missions like "Blockade" and "Special delivery", where most enemies are in the far reaches of your range and it's much more necessary to project, rather than apply.

Thanks, responses resonate with my own experiences, I will stick to mega pulses since I dislike mjd-ing around too much.

For pve tachs + range bonus is great for pve, can hit everything on the field without moving with 1100+ dps. pulse is great if you know things are going to be less than 50km and you can hit with 1300+ conflag dps.

for pvp I'd go pulse, want the close range high dps and better tracking.

Assuming this is for PvE.....

I just got a Paladin and have been using Mega Pulse. Simply haven't tried Tachs yet, but to be honest I don't know if it will make a huge difference.

In L4's any Marauder is massively OP to begin with. I rarely get into armor at all, much less make use of that huge rep bonus from Bastion. I mostly one or two shot anything below a battleship, and not many more shots to melt those.

Pulses with Scorch reach out to MJD range, which is convenient. I drop a Warden II (with a drone range mod in a high) and rarely does anything get close enough for it to start shooting.
Honestly, I find that in most L4's, I don't need Bastion either. I've flatly forgotten to use it on more than one occasion.
I don't see any reason to engage further away than 100km. Other than Spider Drones, nothing has successfully closed that gap before I finish the mission- and if it did I would just MJD away and repeat the process.

Scorch makes a pulse laser ship into an instant sniper platform without having to switch to long range guns.

When I first got my paladin I used megapulse, High dps at close range and a 15km 99% web seemed like it made too much sense. then I tried tachs and never went back, they just hit better at typical mission ranges. If you are in scorch range tachs will pretty much always do more damage. Then with combat refitting I decided to carry both but that doesn't work with bastion anymore. If you know you are going to be brawling with the npcs then megapulse makes sense as you get 1300 dps with conflag, but that's only useful in a few missions and you have to spend time refitting.
