So whats your call? Are there so many of these built and unused gathering dust that the price won't go up with the AF buff or will they actually sell?

Assault frigates still die to anything with light drones. They do die slowly but they still die. Those that don't die go slow enough to not be effective tackle. My advise is to dump stock by end of day 3 of the patch.

And yes, I spend my day on the test server, assault frigs are fun but tend to die in short order to anyone with a nuet and light drones.

Makes sense. Even at 3K with an MWD drones crawl all over you. If you active tank you get neuted off, if you buffer tank your going to die in time.

Pretty much what Florestan said, prices already went up. You could pick up a retri hull for 16M pre-leak, currently you have to pay 27M in Amarr. This will obviously go down as soon as people realize that 27M is a ridiculous price for a AF.

Also, AF's see plenty of use solo as well as in small to mid sized fleets and will often be used as heavy tackle. Retributions specifically not so much because of the single midslot. It will probably take some market share away from the ever popular veng now that it is getting a second midsot, but I think the veng is still king because as heavy tackler your DPS isn't really the point and the vengs. tank is second to none.

Solo the retri might become a more interesting choice then the veng for amarr speced pilots, although if you are doing solo pvp you are probably more likely to train the other racial frigates as well.

I use AFs for solo roaming to catch small frigs, intys, industrials etc.

But AFs are pretty much useless, a little bit like interceptors to be honest.

A well fit t1 frig will essentially do the same job as both of these.

13m actually, but by about 15 minutes after the leak was made I had bought all the unpopular AFs in Jita and Amarr. The price, naturally, got bumped up for a few days and then fell back to around 16m. I've sold all my stock now and was pleased by the return, although the small size of the market prevented any huge investment.

AFs (and interceptors) are both far from useless now, but they are somewhat niche vessels and hugely eclipsed by FOTM choices. It's difficult to say what part they will play post-patch, because the current PvP metagame is still trying to assimilate the other recent ship and weapon changes.

Bah, in all honesty, a gang of 1 Recon ship, 1 stealth bomber and 2 rifters will do the same work as if they had an inty and an AF with them.

They are not worth the price they are at these days.

A properly fit wolf will kill a bunch of rifters in no time. With the changes it might even survive and gtfo.

I agree.

But the key thing here is what you said : "it might even survive (with the changes)"

That there is why AFs right now are useless. And the price premium has already exceeded its real usage value, which means that in answer to the OP, I do not think that AFs will see a surge in price even after changes are implemented simply because first the price has to go back down to a normal level.
