Security Status Raise every 5 minutes?

Many years ago someone told me that when you are running missions to increase your security status that you only get credit for a kill every 5 minutes. Looks to still be true. Question is; Do you get credit for every ship you pop in the last 5 minutes or only one ship?

The reason I ask is that I am doing L3 Solo Guristas Extravaganza and the 6th pocket bonus room has a Battleship which you normally only get in L4 missions. Would it make my security status raise better if I wait 5 minutes after the last kill in that room to pop the Battleship or is it included in the whole amount of ships popped within 5 minutes?

Thanks

Good question.

You get a Security status increase for the highest Bounty ship destroyed within that 5 minute cycle but there's a cap on getting Security status gains. Basically once you achieve a certain amount of Security status, you don't get any more increases until you destroy a higher Bounty target.

That's intended to ensure you're fighting NPC's at your own level and not just continually picking off the easiest ones. You still get Bounty pay for all destroyed NPC pirates regardless of their threat level.

Here's a few examples of the "cap" for NPC pirates :
Angel Outlaw at 1.75 (Frigate)
Sansha Devourer at 2.5 (Destroyer)
Guristas Annihilator at 3.0 (Cruiser)
Serpentis Corelatis at 3.5 (Battlecruiser)
Blood Harbinger at 4.75 (Battleship)

So when your Security status goes above their Security level, you'll stop getting Security status increases for destroying those NPC's. These examples are just for illustration, I don't know the actual Security status limit for each NPC pirate and that info can change at any time within the game.

Now if your Security status logs don't show any changes and you've been killing NPC pirates like mad, then you need to turn your guns against more difficult NPC's.

In answer to your question about waiting 5 minutes before engaging the Battleship, yeah. That way you'll get credit for the other ships within in the group.

Good luck to you and happy hunting.

Is this why I seem to gain sec status far slower by doing incursions than doing lv4 missions?

I'm not sure, maybe it's because you're sharing kills with other pilots.

Anyway, what level is your Security status?
