In the spirit of Black Dog Games, I am proud to present the Black Spiral-your path down the corruptive influence of the Pirate Factions. In this scenario, Pilots do what they longed to do, abandon all shred of humanity and gank for fun and profit. The targets, DED, Faction police, and even Concord vessels. You don’t even have to quit your existing corporation to sign up, just acquire a set of new faction implants and you are now on the winning team. Join the Angel Cartel, Blood Raider Covenant, Guristas Pirates, or Sansha's Nation to plunder the Empires.

Under this style of faction warfare, NPC ships drop faction corpses to be returned for pirate LP, where the pirate factions do unspeakable things to them. The higher the Security status, the higher the potential rewards. To function properly, pilots utilize existing ganking techniques to target faction targets, setup neutral accomplices to scoop the targeted corpses, and manage a supply of disposable gank fleets to grief the hell of the Empires. It can be fun for neutral parties as well. Aggressing empire ships will trip general flag so anyone on grid can target you and get on your kill mail for some Empire Faction LP for defending the Empire.

Have fun, be evil.

+1 simply for the possible entertainment options this could create, even if they're ones I wouldn't hop onto myself personally.

Neopian Citizen

Capsuleer

Project: Salvo Co-Lead

Crazy Drunk Lady

So basically ganking for profit but magnified even more...... Yeah no.

It is a raw concept and I wanted to see if they was any interest.

What I am envisioning is system that moves away from activating timers or grinding structure. It would be a system in where PC's and NPC's interact in a more cooperative way beyond the bland script of agents. In order to take control of territory, pilots target the Empire agents responsible for managing Empire assets. Depending on the level of implementation, pirate actions directly effect the security status of vulnerable Empire systems.

-moves from the corp based faction warfare to a "Implant based" access to pirate content. It would make leading a dual life a easier mechanics wise and adds a level of risk containment. Loose your Pod, lose access to the content.

-It would potentially be a basis of an interesting Sovereignty structure based on empire or pirate backing and allows more flexible content in Null space.

As a VERY rough concept, I say it checks out. It needs a lot of further refinement and idea building to be a viable 'EVE' setup, but I could get behind it as it'd give me Serpentis(and other) aligned pirate players to fight in Highsec from time to time, and definitely to target in lowsec. Would also make a lot of pirate faction roleplayers happy I think, if implemented properly after refinement.

The gods are out there. They watch us. They guide, they manipulate. We rally behind the ones we adore, and rain fire against those who rally behind the ones we hate. The question now is, to whom does your allegiance fall behind, dear Empyreans?

Thank you. So it is a work in progress. I am still adapting to shifting to 3rd shift so it takes some time to get legible ideas.

In various gaming systems, there was a class of players that would at times set time aside to assist plot for their players and GM’s- they are called Narrators. In EVE terms, it would be akin to receiving storyline missions involving guiding NPC fleets to rain controlled chaos down on other players. For this to function correctly, Pirate faction players earn the right to gain more control over their NPC counterparts and make NPC interactions harder to nail down. The benefits of this style of faction warfare would allow veteran players the tools to generate more interesting content.

-and develop a pool of seasoned players that could be tapped to act as FC’s directing NPC engagement’s. Feature highly optional.

So here is the swag and the basics. You will need a clean jump clone and acquire a set of Pirate faction warfare Implants. An implant BPC would build one complete set.

Designed by Sansha and his peers among the Jove Technology Researchers with in the Pirate Factions. The implants Jailbreak the core systems behind the Capsule Technology leaving it vulnerable to modification to better suit the pirate faction needs. These take up all slots 1-10 adding +1 to attributes and a whole list of abilities to become a Dreaded Pirate Prince. Industry build notes: Antikitheria Element, Male Corpse, Female Corpse, Slaves, Malfunctioning Electromechanical Component, Malfunctioning Armor Nanobot, Malfunctioning Weapon Subroutines, Synthetic Synapses, Gel Matrix Bio-paste, Nanite Repair Paste, Morphite.

**Starting Traits**

- Your Corporation and Alliance chat channels are replaced by Pirate Faction Corporation and Hell raiser local, and your character cannot be located by an agent.

-Your day to day standing Resets for your new persona and your Security status defaults to -5.0. Actions that cause GCC will flag your character for a podding by NPC faction police and Concord police.

-Pirate Faction Characters get the Hydra Class Pod. A heavily modified version of the Jove class pod.

The Hydra Class Hydrostatic Capsule

Sansha Kuvakei is infamous for his project to develop a method to amalgamate the Jovian capsule technology with existing brain implants to create men with the thoroughness of a computer and the ingenuity of humans. His solution was to join Jove capsuleer technology with existing brain implants to create willing slaves. In the process, Sansha stumbled on what would become the standard of Capsule technology.

Initially the hydrostatic capsule, proved fiercely maladaptive to the human body in myriad ways. All sorts of physiological differences between ordinary humans and their genetically enhanced Jove counterparts served to make the pod extremely dangerous to humans in its original incarnation, and even the most rigorous training regimens usually failed to save people from the horrors of the mind lock or wetgraving. Understanding wetgraving and the complexities of the brain led to the acquisition of early brain scan technology research from Zainou Biotech by Sansha Kuvakei.

The earliest brain scan technology was developed in YC20 by researchers with Zainou Biotech under the direction of Todo Kirkinen. Kirkinen himself utilized the technology to transfer his mind into a machine, though the technology was relatively crude by today's standards. It was slow, had difficulty penetrating deeply into the brain's center, and caused some damage to the brain's tissues. Refinement to the technology sped up the process and increased its accuracy, but also greatly increased the damage done by the device.

Early experiments with transneural burning scanners allowed the creation of the various types Slave Implants. Far more extensive and advanced than the implants capsuleers use to augment their mental acuity, Slave Implants completely subvert the will of those implanted. Additional research into the Jovian Hydrostatic Capsule required information on the Jovian physiology.

The Battle of Vak'Atioth from decades earlier provided access to samples of Jovian biomatter and additional Jovian technologies for study and Sansha Kuvakei spared no expense to acquire samples. Initial studies and sequential cloning experiments of Jovian samples provided a Neural Kinetics benchmark to compare human abilities and with the theoretical limits of the Neural Interface Array. Results revealed that even the genetically modified Jovian brain could not fully support the full potential of the NIA. Sansha determined that it was necessary to remove the human element altogether and continue Todo Kirkinen’s study of synthetic neural networks. Utilizing archeological data gained from various ancient races, Sansha could construct a vastly smaller wetware mainframe capable of hosting a human conciseness.

With the introduction of an Intermediate wetware mainframe to the Hydrostatic Capsule, Sansha created the Hydra Class Capsule with an integrated clone Vat technology and fluid router system to transmit a pilots’ minds across the cluster. The design freed the capsule from the limitations of protecting and maintaining a living pilot and created a system for clone jumping 74 years before the traditional Clone capsule was created by the Ishukone Corporation. Unfortunately, Sansha’s Nation came under attack before the capsule went into production and only a few copies were constructed.

During the pilot interface process, the transneural echo burn scanner is activated destroying all but the body's autonomic functions. The pilot’s conciseness is uploaded into the capsules wetware mainframe and functions as if nothing had happened save for experiencing highly augmented neural functions and vastly superior learning capabilities. The functioning body is cryogenically preserved as brain dead functioning body and peripheral neural system. Then a three-dimensional gel structure that matches the shape of the pilot’s brain is constructed to replace the effected grey matter. When the pilot is required to leave the capsule, the information stored in the wetware mainframe is then transmitted to the cortex constructor, which uses the data to reconstruct the brain and the revived pilot is decanted. In the final stages of this tuning, as the clone regains consciousness, potentiation at synapses is quickly adjusted to recorded levels, generating a feeling often described as one of memories "coming back from a dream".

The integrated clone vat technology allows unaided clone jumping to other capsules from space unlike from station stored jump clones or medical facilities. During that time an inactive pod enters "reinforced mode" where it cannot be targeted or damaged. The inactive pod is shielded from D-scan but may be detected by combat probes. Due to the sudden rift in the symbiotic ship relationship that exists between a pilot and a Hydra Class Capsule, losing a Pod will result in a skill point loss from Informorph Psychology skill.

Allow me to refer you to something in EVE's history called Aurora. That is why there will never be a player run 'event' system again.
And anything that allows a name change simply won't fly also, for all the reasons mentioned in name change threads.

yeah that thread went back to 06-07. I'll look into that further but a quick google turned up a lot of dead links. Thank you.

As far as the name change, it isn't an integral to the feature for the faction warfare concept.

Wow, that is really must have been a "learning experience" for CCP developers. From my experience in table top and live action role playing games, all i can say is ROFLO. The Syndicate Upwell incident does point out why CCP could use the assistance of experienced gamers that know how PC's min/max game.

I would not advocate for PC's to write cannon content for any system outside of a friendly private table top or larp event. Narrators direct content in a very controlled way but do not write content.

-It would still be in pve mission format with the exception that generated settings would land on slightly off grid of general population grids near stations, belts, moons, stargates. Pirate NPC's would fall under the fighter and drone mechanics under the direction of the Pirate player that activated the mission. At higher levels of development, I could see pirate players allowed access to NPC event structures and assets for the duration of the event. You could end up with scenarios where groups of Pirate faction players assist with Blood raider Soytoto events and the like.
