In null probably 3 rorqual. Failing that probably an orca and 2 covetors/hulks or procurer/skiff. (Depending on if you value safety or yield more.) Personally I use an orca and 2 covetors since less than an hour in the belts pays off the covetors on the off chance one gets lost now and then.

3xrorqual for low and below
3x orca for high just for lack of need for a hualer

Thanks for the reply. I was going to try my hand at some HiSec nothing too extensive just looking to experience some new parts of Eve.

I guess I could start with a Porpoise and 2 Procurers and see how it goes then maybe to Skiffs and an Orca.

I am also looking to get into Exp Frigates to try my hand at huffing some gas.

If you are in highsec and want to stay cheap, go for a porpoise and two covetor, the covetor have a better yield and the porpoise can haul for them and give them boost to enhance further their role.

Plus all 3 ships are cheap so they quickly make back what they costed, and are not all that interesting to go after.

I prefer the booster and two exhumers/barges setup myself. The porpoise and orca have limited mining abilities compared to even barges. Maxed out orca with augmented mining drones going to next you 1250m3 (max) every 60s. Even a well fit covetor, under boosts, will yield more more. (2200ish m3 under good boosts)

Kiddoomer is correct on the setup. You could run that setup for under 250 mil and make that back really quick.

I think your math is off for the max Orca yield. I'm currently getting (on paper) 1280m3/cycle (16 units of ABC/Spod per drone ) using augmented mining drones. My skills are not maxed (Indy Command 4, Drone Interfacing 4, Mining Drone Spec 4) and I dis not fit rigs for max yield.

Did you forget a skill?

I can confirm that my Orca alt does, on paper, yield more than 1250m3 without fully maxed skills.

I use an Orca & two Hulks.. usually clear a belt (current system 0.6) in around 2 hours? 2.5 max?

Hey,

I got on each augmented drone 330m3 per minute with maxed skills and rigs on orca.

There is drone travel time though so the really mining amount may be lower than advertised with mining drones. Even if you hug the rocks larger rocks may still force the drones out of pull range.
