I wanted to say thank you to a bunch of wonderful eve players. I wont name names because i know they would most likely prefer it that way. But I wanted to share an example of one of the reasons the EVE community is one that no other game can compete with.

A few weeks back I had a medical emergency. I have a condition that causes my teeth finger and toe nails to be like chalk. I have been dealing with tooth pain for now 24 years. It started when i was 12. Unfortunately in the last several years I have been un-able to care for my own needs due to having to children with autism. So it finally came to a point that I had a major abscessed tooth. To the point that it had moved into my neck. If it had gotten to the artery it could have been bad. It could have also very easily stopped my breathing while i slept and I would have died in my sleep.

My wife decided to setup a gofundme and reached out to my gaming friends. I have been gaming for a LONG time and I have most of them on facebook.

Well long story short it was the amazing people in eve that really came out in force. You people are amazing!!!

https://www.gofundme.com/dadneedsteeth/

Thats what my eve family has done so far. People who have played with me over the years. From every side of the battle field.

So while things often seem bad or harder than it should in this game. Remember this, While when in game eve players are some of the hardest and most insane gamers you will ever meet. Out of game they are also some of the best people you will know.

Once again.

thank you.

Also for those of you wondering.

I have already had my first appointment. am on antibiotics and infection is almost gone.

surgery is set for the 15th an 16th. they have to split it up between two days. They are removing all of my teeth because the others are crumbling from the inside out.

Fly safe and I will see you in game. I do have a corp to rebuild LOL

How come every time I see a gofundme it's always someone from America with some critical medical condition that would be covered on a free medical card in Europe. It astounds me.

All rights are a joke when you need a doctor and can't afford it.

Unfortunatly our politicians are more concerned with their friends wallets than public health. The medical industry in the us is also a very large employer. If that happened 100s of thousands would loose jobs. Which is often used as an excuse.

Its a catch 22 motivated by an illusion of people pretending to not want to cut jobs while the whole time stuffing their pockets.

For example of stupid cost.

My kids each have 4 therapies a week. 2 sessions of each.
That's 8 sessions per child
16 in total
At a $20 copay per session
Or $320 a week in copays. That's after insurance.

So Bassically to take care of my kids my needs take a back seat till its to late.

That's great, OP!

So many in and outside this game say bad things about the EvE community, always good to see the proof otherwise.

This is one thing about the eve community I have seen this time and time again when it comes to Eve. both in the past when I have played and now when I return. and its something truely uniquew I just dont see fully in other games. When a well respected well known player or a player starting out in game and is down on his luck the community really rallys around to try and help.

If it is something like what this poor player is going through and needs help or someone extremly low on isk and someone throws them a couple of mil a good protion of the player community always rallys around to help.

This is the type of community spirit I like to see in a game and in EVE. I just wish more games had that kind of spirit that seems to be infectious in such a good and powerful manner here

It's because we're less like a gaming community than a cult. Or a secret society, where everybody in it can be trusted because they've been through the same ordeal by fire, and they still hung around. Smile

Dad of autism family here too bro, I hear you about that part. Really great to hear that the Eve bros rallied up and kicked in when you needed it. CCP gets a lot of hell from us, but they did create something goes beyond regular gaming.

This has always made me wonder as well why we can't do what other countries do so well. But the OP replied with the best answer on that part. I have to deal with it as well with my own health issues; it's a stinky situation for us in the US.

OP, I think it's great that you were able to raise the money to get what you need done! This community really is so wonderful and it has to be the best community that I've even been a part of as well. We are a one of a kind group that really cares about each other (despite us wanting to kill each other with our spaceships; but that's another story^_~).

Props! Good luck on the surgery! :)

Unfortunately there have been a lot of times in my life that I have found that my gaming friends are far better friends than people i know in "RL" I guess because as the one guy said it is because in some form we have stood the test of fire together. Achieved great things together. And for some reason we are all messed up enough to play this game together lol.

Most gaming communities are based on a pure instinct of kill or be killed. It doesn't allow for an actual community to build. The bonds you make in those games are as temporary as your alliance in game. the eve universe forces us to look past the traditional boundaries. You often find that your oldest enemy is the one you can call on when no one else will help. And your oldest friend is the first one to turn their backs on you. Some of the best people i have met in this game we met on opposite sides of a fight. I learned about their character and who they are from fighting them far better than i would have with casual chat. I think this is what the new generation of players is missing. The older lot like my self brings them in as disposable assets. When in fact we should be working to get them fresh off the wagon pull them in. Guide them teach them and show them what the eve community has to offer. Because when it comes down to it. What you gain in the people you get to know far out weighs the losses in game when they blow you up lol. I have met people in this game who work on the streets in South Africa and their family saved for 3 years to buy a computer. Too people who make 7 figures or more each year as executives in their fields. But when they are on the battle field none of that matters. No one knows who is black, white,Asian or Latino, man or woman, gay or straight. or what your religion is. And it doesn't matter. All that matters is you are there and they know you have their back. While we have our MASSIVE WARS honestly on the scale that in RL is not even possible. We are a community where prejudice does not exist. Cultural and geographic boundaries do not exist. Would be nice if society as a whole could learn from this rag tag group of ours.

Fly safe all and ill see you in game. o7

Operation is Thursday and Friday at 8 am. Ill put updates as soon as I can. Good news because of going over the goal and an oral surgeon being very nice and cutting his rates by about $2500 I'm only short 600 to use the oral surgeon. Amazing

This whole thing just goes to show you that people do care. And the people of eve "while some might be evil in game" all are good Amazing people. Thank you all!
