So i was just about to buy a new subscription for 3-6 months, but now that whomever made their account on steam (or is it everyone?) the currency conversion is insane. I was going to buy the 6 month subscription, but the currency conversion is nuts for AUS to USD, because steam wants me to pay in USD unlike on the website before the change. So now instead of paying the $71.70, i have to pay $95. its INSANE. Will CCP be doing anything about this? im not trying to trigger a negative response im just generally annoyed, sorry if this post is breaking something in the rules.

I'm not sure what you're on about. 70.1 USD for six months sounds correct, and that converts to 95.7 AUD.

Are you just annoyed about the exchange rate itself?

US$ is the global currency. CCP does accept a few others but it would make no sense whatsoever for them to accept the risk of doing business in 200 floating currencies.

The exchange rate means you're paying $15 per month instead of $12 - the difference won't buy a cup of Starbucks coffee.

I'm a little tired of Aussie prices being higher for internet games.

Pay the same as people in the USA, but don't get the same product, because nobody likes putting servers in Australia. Which is understandable, but it leaves Australians paying more, for less.

We also end up getting compounding issues such as latency which is the main element of all PvP games.

I'd be happier if the prices were lowered, because the quality is.

You don't pay more. Your currency is just worth less than the one CCP accept. Conversion rates are not CCP's doing...

Don't use Steam for Eve, problem solved.

BTW with Steam your technically not buying game time from CCP you are buying it from Steam who take a cut then pay CCP.

I think steam did a reevaluation of their local currency offerings sometime recently, seems like they weren't happy taking a loss on the conversion rates.

Im annoyed that im paying nearly $30 more for the same thing that people in the US get cheaper then me. 95 bucks isn't exactly easy for me to obtain.

But i made my account via steam first, my account name is only steam176340835y083 (random numbers), how do i buy it from ccp if ccp says that anyone thats account is on steam has to buy from steam? whenever i go to the website to try and buy subscription from ccp it says that i have to buy it from steam when i log into my account on there.

You are not paying $30 more. Because US-D are not the same as AUS-D. You are trying to compare apples & oranges & complaining one apple does not equal one orange.
I.E. Pay your money and like it.

Yeah i guess that makes sense. its just that i WOULD be able to afford this if i could buy it off their website like i used to because i have 83bucks and it was about 75, but now its 95 :/ See where im coming from? i see what you mean it makes perfect sense but still yknow now i can't afford it.

95 is hard to obtain for six months of entertainment? Should you really be playing games in the first place?

Valve is making you pay a big premium for currency conversion in addition to the 33% cut they get anyway. They've been doing that for at least 5 years now.

When you don't know the difference between there, their, and they're, you come across as being so uneducated that your viewpoint can be safely dismissed. The literate is unlikely to learn much from the illiterate.

As a steam user myself i suggest you do this:

Setting-an-account-name-for-Accounts-created-through-STEAM

It will allow you to make an (alias) account name for your 'steam account'.
This means you can log in on the ccp website itself and buy plex / game time. Just follow the expiration date on the account info page on the ccp website, dont bother about steam.... (steam just starts the launcher and thats it, the subscription date there only matters for paying with steam) . After the launcher (ingame client you are on CCP territory (servers)) . Steam does not say who can and not can not play eve online. CCP does, so if you paid through ccp it will work even launching it from steam.

This way you can log in through steam or straight run the client without steam to start eve online aswell.

Don't know about paying in australian dollars. I pay on the ccp site in euro...

Where i live there are NO open jobs, i've looked everywhere i can and i can't find any. i did have a job a few weeks ago and was in training, but i got fired because they couldn't afford me, i only have 80 bucks left :/
EDIT: i would do chores around the house, but my dad lost his job and nobody will hire him because of his age when there are lots of younger blokes around applying for the jobs, so he doesn't have the money to pay me for doing chores but i still do them. I have tried mowing peoples lawns but theres only one person so far that im mowing lawns for, but its a really old lady so she can only pay 20 bucks for us to do it and thats about every 3 weeks, i only get 15 bucks of that 5 bucks for fuel because its my dads mower.
