Idea So, I made a reddit post about this, which can be found here:
https://np.reddit.com/r/Eve/comments/6fb5bc/pirate_faction_hauler_concept/

I link it, as well as reposting here, because there was a LOT of good discussion about it on reddit that could be mined for additional ideas/features.

From the reddit post:

Pirate Faction Hauler, based on the Iteron V hull. (stay with me!)

Ship has two cargo-holds, splitting the m3 in half. This is because the ship itself can be split in half. So, you get tackled and decide to dump half your cargo in order to get away (at the first sign of an Imperial starship, perhaps?). Then you fire up an MJD with the front half and escape.

Another option I thought of, would be smartbomb-like weapons on the latter half. You can either load it with goods to dump and run, or... sacrifice half your m3 to load it with smartbombs that vaporize fast tackle in your wake. The pirates after you either get half your loot, or they get nuked if there was no loot to begin with in that half.

Traits? Gallente Industrial per level: +5% Cargo Capacity Minmatar Industrial per level: Reduction in MJD spool-up time, 1.5 seconds at level V?

Role Bonus: Able to fit dealyed-activation smartbombs in lieu of cargo on rear section.

I thought Gallente/Minmatar fit because of the recent Guardian's Gala and the idea of smuggling things and which Pirate Faction would be most inclined to do such things. Perhaps there's a better option? Maybe some sort of tank bonus to make the ship more attractive, or speed/align bonus, since it isn't made to sit and tank but to run away?

Opinions/discussion welcome. That's probably not what I'll get... but I'm an optimist.

/end reddit post

Note: Some ideas/concerns were fleshed out in comments later on.

So, any thoughts or additional insight on top of what was posted in the comments? I'd honestly love to hear what CCP thinks too! (^_^)

Anyone who can tackle a hauler can tackle the second half before your MJD spools up. And if you're loading your trailer with enough explosives to kill tackle, you're also going to kill yourself.

Why would you bother flying one of these instead of just brick tanking a DST and walking through the camp?

Or a blockade runner and sliding through gate camp?
