Cap batteries

I have the real feeling that cap batteries, particularly Larges are too good for the fitting requirements. Smaller batteries feel much less effective. We are also missing an actual battleship sized battery.

I would propose re-balancing large batteries and introducing new XL batteries (sub capital size).

Problem: many fits are now using large batteries at the cruiser and battlecruiser level. These are making cap-stable fits that rep huge amounts of DPS with only limited risk of capping out. For the most part, 1v1's and small gang fights aren't worth fighting once you see sac's or deimos on the field because you know they will have a large battery and be practically unbreakable.

Solution: increase fitting requirements for large batteries so that they more accurately reflect their size. Introduce new battleship batteries that only BS can feasibly fit.

1. Large batteries: increase fittings to 550/450/600 pg for t1/compact/t2. This will force the use of fitting mods for much of the cruisers who currently abuse these modules. If it's not enough, increase the pg in a future pass.

2. Introduce XL batteries: 1500/1300/2000 pg, 50/40/65 cpu, 2500/2200/3000 gj

Pulling numbers out of my ass, the point being to open some discussion on whether these things could do with some revision.

On sisi you have a 100% chance of fighting a HAC or combatRecon or T3 with a cap battery. They are slowly beginning to permeate all levels of meta as well, with T3D's and assault frigates also fitting batteries.

I can understand making batteries more difficult to fit. I put large batteries on logi where i can and it's pretty powerful.

But i don't think we need a new xl battery. They've been changed to be significantly better than cap rechargers for their respective sizes. I'd rather we didn't have oversized batteries on all the things like we do shield extenders.

2000pg is way out of the reach of your average cruiser. Just for 1 module.

That's not the problem with large cap batteries. The problem is they have two week effects, one of which gets to be powerful when you fit an oversized battery.

The other is that there is a swarming frigate menace out there, so your mids are always going to be occupied by things like webs, scrams, and grapplers so you can actually kill a few.

On what BS fit do you actually have over a thousand PG left to cram in a 2k PG module in place of one that is likely to consume much less right now?

Is what you said for xl not large. Large is oversize for cruiser/bc.

Large cap batteries as they are now are fine for battleships. No need for xl.

I always have plenty of grid left on most bs's that aren't using long range weapons. For a geddon I'd swap cap boosters for these. 3000 extra cap, thats nearly 50% boost from one mod. Even an apoc gets a massive boost per xl battery. Its too much,

And that's why I said I was pulling numbers out of my ass. You could lower the bonuses for large and hypothetical XL to cap GJ if it helps

... am i the only one who thought you fit small batteries and then recharges/injectors to BBs if you needed cap AND C-war resists? i find they are fine and after the change i use batteries a lot more (still far less than recharges).

I see no need for a bigger battery for BB the current ones work fine for the fits. only reason i see you wanting an XL is because

It would really be more accurate to say that since currently many cruiser fits include large batteries, that large batteries are undersized for battleships. Same as XL shield boosters are the correct size for BB not large.

Well no xl is still oversized for a BB shield boosters are simply setup so they can be fit on undersized hulls. There are still fits that use the large. Also just because modal A works one way is not a valid reason to give module x the same characteristic.

Your argument all sounds like a child whining about some getting to do something you don't
