I never understood that fetish. Why are you people hoarding meatcicles? It's weird.

For me, because If I can I'd like to see them honored with a proper burial, whatever, if I can help it. Or atleast try to make it possible.

... but they're not dead. They're just shed skins. Abandoned puppets. Someone trying to do a burial of me while I'm still around is just... weird.

You'd think a remembrance ceremony would get a bit old after a while. "Let's see here, how far did we get last time? Oh, the day before yesterday. This'll be a short one, boys. Oh look, the dead guy is here too. How are you enjoying the proceedings? We so rarely get feedback from the guest of honor, you know. Hurr hurr."

Weird.

My corpses I would be thrilled if they used them in some rememberance as some part of the ship for those who died. Some dead husk I may become, but I consider it as the bell of the ship from long before we took to the skies. I may live on but my crew does not. My failure would be laid to rest in honor of those who fell due to my actions. I don't want my body laid to rest that way, but its simply another reason to try harder to not have those mistakes happen.

Maybe its a little morbid, but I'd rather see it as something.

Fair'nuff, but I have my doubts as to such things being the usual reason why people hoard the meatcicles.

Uh ... you kind of said it yourself, though, Ms. Vess: war prizes.

Trophies.

It's why I brought it up at all. (And also because the element of "bwahaha I kill people you care about" that had crept in seemed to want some redirection.)

Sometimes we collect them just to annoy people.

Well, in some wierd, demented sort of way it is the ultimate war prize. Litterally taking a piece of you. Is it such a strange thought that people who make a living killing others, alot of time just for the thrill of it are also some of the most irrational psychopaths humanity has to offer? Maybe it says something of our species that those of us who seem to have these tendencies are arguably at the pinnacle of what the ultimate human being is capable of.

I don't think it's that surprising, though. Capsuleer behavior starts looking a lot less strange if you look back a little farther into the histories of our various cultures. Civilizations and rules tend to go hand in hand, and a lot of "being civilized" involves stuff like deciding, eventually, that maybe letting a neutral arbiter resolve disputes is better than punching it out, and also, maybe, that bringing a thief back to face trial is preferable to (and less likely to go awry than) just bringing his hands, ear, or head.

We capsuleers don't have all that many rules. We're basically pretty anarchic. So it's not too surprising if those of us who take a grim satisfaction in stockpiling the, ah, meaty bits we've relieved our opponents of, do so.

We're ... maybe kind of not very "civilized," anymore, mostly.

Thanks, Ms. Vess. As an aside it's partly this pattern that makes me a little interested in Arrendis, and Goonswarm, generally. I don't know if they'll ever actually put it into practice, but the last big war seemed to happen partly as a result of their attempt to impose a kind of quasi-feudal system.

I don't know if they'll try again, but, it'd be interesting if they succeeded in such a thing-- even if the resulting power structure would mostly resemble the kind of early-feudal society that mounts heads on spikes above a wooden stockade.

(I'd expect corpse collections to continue, if not proliferate, in that kind of setting. It'd be interesting to see whether they could make it work, though.)

If that were the case I'd gladly jump into my Nemesis and return to null sec. Never mind them, no nullsec entity should take our space or Caldari space or Gallante or even Amarr. Their rule has no place in losec. It would be interesting, yes. But I don't feel we should let it happen without a fight.

I'd kind of forgotten the "lowsec" aspect of the politics. I'm fuzzy on the whole business, actually.

Either way, I can't help feel like a lot of people down the line of history have said stuff like that. Many of whom ended up trying to use bows and axes to fend off organized groups of armored soldiers.

Don't think we're anywhere near that kind of situation, yet, though.

Oh theres been plenty of occasions of that, In the end nullsec entities are out of their element and the "warring tribes" of losec aren't that warlike towards each other when a mutual enemy shows its face. I hope that never changes. As far as them using bows against armored soldiers, mass attacks still are a tactic employed, not because they're effective but because they can and do work if quantity is not a limitation but quality is.
