Boosting prematch

With the new command boosts you are setting off an area of effect module. In previous tournaments boost modules could be started before the end of the count down.

Is this still allowed now with the new boost mechanics? The tournament tool on thunderdome allows you to do it and I saw another team doing it against us in a practice fight but would like confirmation its legal.

Commands boosts are neither aggressive or targeted modules, so you may begin cycling them before the match starts.

Relevant points from the rules:

The following restrictions are in place after teams have warped to the arena beacon, until the match begins:

  • Locking players before the match starts is NOT allowed.
  • Activating aggressive or targeted modules before the match starts is NOT allowed.
  • Launching drones before the match starts is NOT allowed.
  • Moving before the match starts is NOT allowed.
  • Beginning the activation cycle of a Micro Jump Drive or Mobile Micro Jump Unit before the match starts is NOT allowed.

Wait, wait, wait. If command boosts are not aggressive, then how come if I try and dock right after firing one, I get the massage "You are denied docking due to your recent acts of aggression"?

That's a weapons timer vs something that inflicts harm upon the other team. But that's a fair point, and we will be specifically adding a line stating you are permitted to use Command Bursts before the match starts.
