acceptable anshar build time

was wondering if anyone knew the general time frame for building something like an anshar from scratch. don't think i'm taking too long with this build but i can't say i'm not getting paranoid about it since it's taken me about 2 and a half months so far and i'm still a couple days away from putting the ship together (obelisk then anshar, did not use a reactor farm for the advanced components).

to me at least, it seems like it's taking a little too long, but that may also be due to this being my first time doing something like this. info much appreciated

A lot depends on how many production slots you have. Realistic if you have 11 production slots plus all materials and blueprints:

2 weeks to build the capital components
2 weeks to build the Obelisk and advanced capital components (overlap)
1 month to build the Anshar

Add some time to assemble the materials and 2.5 months is pretty reasonable. You can do it faster in a bonused facility.

If you're building it as a milestone in your Eve career, that's great. If you're building it for profit you'll likely be disappointed.

I budget about about two months per JF, give or take. They're a pain in the ass.

If the profit margin on a big ticket item like Anshar is so poor, with long build times, who builds these and why?

You can get one built in about 5 weeks from scratch easily enough

you have to build the tech 2 components to make any kind of profit, but even then you're only getting about a 10% return.

there is a post in GD about using thukker assembly arrays which give a -10% material cost but can only be used in lowsec, and are getting removed in an upcoming patch.

also seems like a decent way for null alliances to turn all their raw materials from the rorquals and moongoo ops into something they can sell.

The Thukker Component Assembly Array provides a 15% ME and 25% TE bonus for standard and advanced capital ship components. That level of bonus means it's unlikely to be profitable to make them anywhere else.

The new Thukker rigs will provide a reduced bonus 7.03% - still enough to shut out highsec manufacturers but nullsec ECs will get a 4.2% bonus which may be enough to compete.

I used to build them, but the market crashed with the Thukker Component Assembly Array, then later bonuses to building in EC in lowsec & nulsec, that building in hisec was no longer competitive.

Hence I have some 200+ Charon BPC Blink

big items are attractive builds because they don't need much micromanaging.

you just have to start your jobs a few times a month
