PLAYING RECORDING

“Is this thing on?”

Sounds of button tapping and clicking happen… the screen recording stays blacked out for a few more seconds before starting up and showing a Minmatar male, his face half off the screen as he is checking unseen cables inside what looks to be a tent. He looks up and notices the recording is working, his eyebrows shoot up in surprise. His tanned, stubble face is caked with sand and dirt showing the outline of goggles. His head is half wrapped by a hijab, and continues around his neck followed by a sand tainted robe and a bandolier full of possibly ammo or personal items.

"Well then... my name is Kentt Em'asep, and... He motions around the tent moving briefly from the camera and you can see boxes, some machinery, and rugs behind him."I am not on board any sort of ship.

Now then, I doubt most know of me. I am a pod pilot... and if this recording gets to any others of such standings, I would be surprised. If not, I would be equally honored in swapping recorded messages to any others of any profession, and of any standing. Depending on how civil you conduct yourselves.

I last flown maybe 2 years ago. I never was big in battles, or heavy inside big corporations or fleets. For the most part, I explored ...and spent equally as much time in the hangers trying to fit the best fits in ships. Or the most creative. That lead to the creation of a corporation I called Clone Red Creations, in which I became the CEO of. It specialized in the experimentation and the testing of mostly frigates up to cruisers and whatever in between.

I was known as the crazy guy in the hangers that would fit a 10mm Tech 2 afterburner into a Burst, with Tech 2 autocannons and long range rounds. While keeping everything cap stable. Or a sniper fit Claw with... a 10mm afterburner. Cap stable. And capable of 3000... last I remember. For ****s and giggles I even tried cruiser-sized autocannons on a Rifter. Now even though they were terrible against other frigates, they looked cool".

Kentt reaches over behind the camera for a plastic water bottle and drinks some of the water to clear his throat before putting it back and continuing.

"Hell, I even tried my hand at battleships. They are expensive and require lots of people, and one of the reasons I aim more at working with frigates then anything else. One of my tests was a long range Abaddon that had long range lasers and was assisted by another battleship that was equipped with capacitor assisters. Was inefficient but the whole test was fun to perform and see how good of a shot it could be. I forget how far the test allowed.

Like I've said, I have not been in much fights with other capsuleers. Mostly did missions with what we call "rats". And I... when you think of the crews aboard those ships. Those who can't regenerate. Those who don't have a second chance. A third chance. A hundredth chance. The morality hurts. We capsuleers are not supposed to feel that and should accept it as such. At least that is what some say.

I have not been flying a whole lot, really not at all. It has been for many reasons. I know my uplink connections have been very shotty. And then sometimes not work at all. If people remembered me, I was last known back when I had set up the VR room known as The Nomad's Campsite. If you still can connect to that, it is with another traveling caravan. I don't know if they kept the generators running or not. I don't know if people even use it. I also was off and on the VR room known as the Standing Place, even back when it was known as being a holo room held in a real tent. Now it is just a place held on a server somewhere capsuleers can electronically connect to.

Now I am with another caravan. Still here on Matar of course. I work as delivery or a scout on... that."

Kentt looks over his left shoulder then reaches to the camera (which seems to be easily moved and must be a ear piece) to aim it where he is looking. Into view comes an old carbureted ground bike. The back half has rusted 8 inch wide tracks that are in place instead of a wheel. On the front is a sled with hydraulic shocks welded on instead of a front wheel. Grey rattle canned spray-paint covers what must be rust or plastic underneath not giving any indication what state the frame is really in.

"It's loud. And maybe more dangerous then anything that floats. But it gets me where I want and fills in my lost ship tinkering time. Getting above 30 kilometers an hour is a task in itself hah!

So like before, will be good to hear from anyone. Talk ships, or news, or whatever. I heard something about everyone getting better sensor upgrades to go stargazing with. I think new ships have been designed too. Anything happen with the war on slavery? Things like that. I'll be checking this computer here for recording and sending out such. Don't bet on it being sent out fast and talking to me in real time. Unless we get lucky.

For those wondering if I'll fly again, we'll see. It will be some time till I do get back in a pod. Which is why I decided to send this. Just looking for folks to talk to.

Kentt Em'asep signing off. Safe travels folks".

Kentt presses an unseen button and the recording ends.

If you can continue to innovate successful fits then you will do well on your return. Best of luck.

Welcome back, pilot.

The Gallente have a phrase which translates as, "The more things change, the more they stay the same."

Thanks for taking the time for the video feed. simple text does well enough for this venue. Hell, half the pilots here can barely manage that.

If you're looking to expand out past Matari space, there are options,. My Alliance is always looking for new talent.

Fly safe.

Ah! Glad my feed connects. Very good to hear! Well, I guess it does save a bit of net speed to send texts out then a video feed. Just thought it to be simpler for the feed as it could be picked up by a wider range of people. Now that I know it to connect, I don't have to worry as much.

Hello there! I am glad to hear that! Although when you say successful, most have only been tested in controlled environments. I think a Slasher fit with a 10AB was the only one to have really seen a good test for scouts and solo pilots meaning to avoid alot when a friend of mine took it to pick up some gear in low-sec. Then found herself outrunning a pirate who possibly had a 1mm micro-warp drive running.

Greetings there, and thank you!

Interesting phrase... I am guessing translated or how you could take that is "more things change, more we revert back to what we are more familiar with". It is easier for me to stay with what I know, then to change myself to something else. But sometimes that can be healthy too.

Aye, like I have stated above... it seemed easier to do a video feed. Most people, be they pod pilot or mortal, could access and receive it. And, I was not too sure I could get it to be received by the official Capsuleer channels. But it is good to see it through so now easily sending notepad messages to the same location the feed was received at.

I have traveled some, back when I flew. Have lived over at Oursulaert III in my early days. Then moved back to Matari space around Juddi close to low-sec. Last spot before coming back to Matari was Akeva which was a nice and quiet spot. Other places too between when I had hooked up with past cooperations... but most were of big plans but had quickly fell apart. Kind of disapointing when a few of them really liked my idea of ship fits as some said they would be perfect in fleets. But like before, most of them remain untested on real situation use.

Now, if you wish to read more, I had a blog once running. Was good to have ran it when I did. But kind of fell apart in the end.

Very nice to hear of your offer... it is still really early on and far from when I get out to fly again. But like what I said about, different is sometimes healthy. No plans have really been in place for when I return so that is always a such option, thank you.

Safe travels to you as well sir!

Haha, hello there! Have no fear, no plans are made and won't be made for a few more months until I get my feet wet in space again. Still don't have the tech upgraded to even fly to stations. Who knows what the future holds. Still good to hear others that care.

I had trouble connecting through the router until I dropped 'The' from the channel header.

Admittedly, VR is not really my thing, and it would take some time to get comfortable. A bit different from capsule data on telemetry and drone sensory feed. This does give me some ideas about presenting scientific data though. Perhaps a project for another time.

In any case, Nomad's Campsite is indeed still functional. Reminds me of another channel mentioned a while back. Someone had repurposed old desert repeater towers to create a net of surface-to-ship voice comms for secure drop offs. Then it just became a spooky party line.

I'll keep an eye on the connection, when downtime comes around. Southern winds return you home, cousin.

Greetings there,

Good to hear of it. It has been a long while since I have connected or physically visited the room so my memory was hazy from if it has "the" included or not. Not a whole lot has happened there from my knowledge, but it was my replacement for a Matari VR room called the Standing Place. Not sure about the "the" in there either. But that was a really nice place you could feel physically at until a later update.

Glad to hear of it. Like before, you might not see anyone besides locals relighting lights but you might get lucky. My only wish was to continue something people are free to join up that I know should stay as long as my corporation took care of it in my absence. Looks like things are going well.

Safe travels

I miss the old-fashioned VR rooms. It was fun the parameters you could control if you were the host, to mess with your guests.. and being able to turn the whole room into a velvety cigar lounge was a nice touch.

Every time I show up in The Standing Place, I always present myself as this floating black slab that displays green texts.

A Minmatar warship is like a rusting Beetle with 500 horsepower Cardillac engines in the rear, armour plating bolted to chassis and a M2 Browning stuck on top.

I've been in a few VR rooms. You can't match the level of work that goes into the programing of them with a holo room. But I have always been a fan of the real thing. Sometimes you have to accept there is some imperfections in places and that is what makes it unique to the others.

Haha, that is a interesting way to present yourself. Whatever works I guess, right?

I found this option to use the least bandwidth. Yes, I am stingy with bandwidth.

Hello and welcome to space!

I could recommend you to connect your holo interface to "Intergalactic Summit" chat channel in your NeoCom, there you could talk with people in real time! It is named right just like this forum, easy to remember!

I have been the same. My last months in space only allowed me to perform shipboard functions in the stations and remotely access parts in the corporation inventories.

Hello there and thank you! Sadly I am not in space and due to a large number of technicalities, I am on the ground doing the good work as a mortal among a group of other fellow humans. Won't be hitting space or entering a pod for a number of months to come.

I actually once was connected on that chat channel when I last used my NeoCom. It was very good for a number of things and chatting. It will be nice to get to the point and chat on it again, but now unfortunately is not the time.
