Like the World Of Tanks Premium Tank, that is hard to kill without the premium ammo, but also has crap dps itself without the premium ammo?

EvE is a different marketing model from F2P, it is more of a free trial. So technically any ship you can't fly as an alpha is your premium content.

Different injector size is just giving players more options.

Why not, golden ammo even, no matter what anybody puts forth 99% of people always just say no, nobody wants features, they want a static eve.

Because 99% of people don't want to wallet PvP because they know how much they'll lose playing wallet PvP. Some of the mobile wallet warrior PvP games are so bad they literally pay their marketing team to stalk potential whales on social media to get them to come play.

Ohhh, but what about... some sort of "Permanently Unlock A Skill" item that costs PLEX. So even if you're an Alpha Caldari, you can use Light Lasers even as Alpha if you pay $5 worth of PLEX and select that skill.

It'd be a terrible trap for people who don't want to/aren't ready to sub, because if they do sub for any significant length of time then they aren't making use of their skill-specific investment(s). They either need to remain Alpha and keep buying more individual skills (which after like 20 skills, they might as well have gone Omega for a year) or lapse, losing all their Omega stuff but hey they still have whatever they unlocked individually.

It's a bad deal in the long run, but I can imagine people who don't like subscriptions going for it, as well as people who are willing to throw a little cash at the game but don't want to "commit" to a subscription. And of course, poor fools who don't know better.

It already works that way, Pay 500 Plex get a sub, be able to use anything and everything regardless of race. Given you have the skills trained to do so.

While subbed you can use Omega skills, but when the sub lapses the benefits from your Omega skill ranks are inactive.

I'm talking about a terrible EA monetization scheme preying on Alphas that would let them use cherry-picked Omega skills without Omega time, like 100 Plex per skill. Given the number of skills a character might reasonably make use of, the break-even point for sub vs. permanent skill unlock would probably be a decade, optimistically.

Just because it would be a bad deal doesn't mean someone wouldn't buy it, either out of a hatred for subscription models or just not knowing any better.

There are games I've played that offer similar choices between a cheap individual permanent unlock vs. a timed service that offers more benefits (while active). They usually don't have the mind-boggling number of skills as Eve, though, and anyone paying attention can find break-even analyses posted by other players.

Addendum: I'm not saying this is a good idea. I'm just saying this would be an evil mobile game idea that would probably make money.

Every time people say about something in EvE "PTW" (the latest one ware skill injectors) others point that in EvE it's the player skills which make the difference and not ships/modules/ammo.

Using the same logic: is "golden ammo" PTW? I would say "No" because bad pilot will not "Win" against good pilot even having golden ammo.

So why not? Lol

They keep doing more of it. Doing "enough" of this (no idea where "enough" is, don't think CCP knows either) is how you end up with free-to-play games you literally can't give away for free because they're so bad. I suppose there's always sitting in stations and playing Barbie or chatting.

Every time they pull something like this, the game *does* lose players. I've still got Tippia's leftover stuff sitting in a station in Kubinen. That's content you're not going to see again, and money CCP will never see any more of.

Remember that perception thing in this post? The one about people outside thinking we literally blow up thousands of dollars of Internet spaceship?

Quote:
The last thing this game needs is some image of it being played by rich shitlords throwing "thousands of dollars worth of space ships around" while women and children (it's always women and children the way the media operates these days, right?) starve to death in his driveway.

I suppose we do have that image problem, if you look at the articles we see about EVE in the real-world news: stuff exploding is always measured in dollars. Zkill even lists shipwreck values in dollars, calculated against the price of PLEX. What's it to anyone here if CCP makes it a reality problem?
