Nividia and Amd currently both work nicely with wine?

I want to play eve again (haven't played since 32bit support joined the dodo) but:
My current system still runs 32bit debian.
Since a recent debian upgrade nvidia is borked so now I use nouveau (still need to figure this out).
And my cpu and gpu are getting a bit old.

I'll be waiting for computex for the latest news. Either it'll give me new ideas for my wishlist or existing goodies will become cheaper.

Last time I put a system together Nvidia was the only viable choice for Eve under Wine.
Is this still the case or can I now just make a choice based on the technical merits of both brands' products?

Both work. What I hear is that nvidia with the noveau drivers suck, but I'm not an nvidia user so I cant confirm this completely. On AMD, if with current hardware it should run. Id recommend stay off the APU's, since it happened with my old model that got unsupported and I was forced to get a gpu to keep gaming going.

But yes, both work nicely.

PS: At least on 64bit :) From what I remember, the launchers now are 64bit, so it shouldnt work on 32bit systems, but the game itself is 32bit..... (one dev said).... but we can no longer run the game with the /bin/exefile as before, so you might need to switch to a 64bit distribution.

Both are fine.

* Nvidia have support from nvidia, no native D3D so need more CPU to get the same performance than a decent AMD card.
* AMD have native Linux support without installing external blob, are more compatible with bleeding edge stuff and have native D3D9 api support so require less CPU.

- Right now I would say AMD all the way as the native support is often even faster than the Windows with AMD drivers.
- If you want to play game made for linux without wine or other translation layer, a Nvidia card will give you more performance but if you plan to use mostly wine, AMD.
