Request: Notes Tab for Corporations

I make extensive use of the notes tab for players. Can't remember everyone and it's nice to be able to look up why you set someone blue/red or blocked them.

I'd love to see the same thing for corporations (and maybe alliances too).

+1 for relative simplicity and usefulness.

Do what the rest of us do and use the now section on the founder.

As to the idea of it takes now than a few minutes to implement devs have better things to spend their time on

Notes to corp can go into the corp bulletin board where all can see it. Or you can send them out in a broadcast email to the corp and let each person deal with it however they want to.

Notes to other corps in an alliance can be sent to the CEO, Directors or to the dedicated communications person and let them deal with it the way their corp likes to deal with stuff like this.

Set up a spreadsheet on google and share access to it with anyone and everyone you want to. More flexibility, easier for everyone and best of all no dev time needed. While your there you can even set up a contacts list for those who want to share, a calendar of events that has capabilities above and beyond that available in game and the list goes on. Another option here is Microsoft One Note, not only can anyone and everyone you want access it, but it is accessible from smart phones and tablets as well.

Set up a web site and use that for this information. My corp has one and it costs us a whopping $15.00 per year and we have more flexibility and more capability than CCP could EVER put into EvE.

In the end notes and how we use them are a very personal thing, since it is beyond the scope of a computer game to try and offer the flexibility needed to allow ALL of us to set them up the way we want keeping it simple is a much better idea.

I don't believe that's what he meant when typing this. There is literally a section when you open up a character info sheet that says 'notes' that lets you type a short bit about the person in question as a quick reference for yourself, and yourself alone, so you can remember 'oh, that's why I put them red/blocked them.' It is not distributed to anyone else by any means. Its not the same as mails, or the short notes you can send to people you add as contact.

The gods are out there. They watch us. They guide, they manipulate. We rally behind the ones we adore, and rain fire against those who rally behind the ones we hate. The question now is, to whom does your allegiance fall behind, dear Empyreans?

Thank you, Sterling Blades, for the clarification. That's exactly what I meant.

And Lugh, thank you for the suggestion. It's a decent workaround, but not ideal (extra clicks + corps can change CEO).

Since the system already exists for individual players, it doesn't seem like a huge amount of effort to extend it to corporations. Could be wrong -- I don't know their source code.

Trust me I am well aware of these things and it changes nothing and you miss the point of my post.

When it comes to information storage and sharing abilities like the OP wants K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stupid) is the best thing CCP could ever do. Give us basic tools for the individual player that is not involved in the more complex aspects of the game. For the rest of us that need / want more there are many options across the internet to meet our needs and those options are much better suited to the task at hand than anything CCP could ever give us.

Let me get specific to your comments here.

If the information is needed across the corp, do not enter it into the show info note field, put it on the corp bulletin board where all can see it. Let them decide whether the information is important enough for them to transfer to the show info notes field. Even then a much better idea is a spread sheet or some other document set up specifically to hold this type of information and then share it by google drive, Drop Box or any other information sharing site. Another option is what we do, any corp that is a concern to us has their own page on our web site and all information related to that corp and it's members past and present is entered into that page. Not concerned about the corp, just one character that's OK we have a page for them as well.

In the end CCP is a game company and we need them to stay focused on the game and not stuff like information sharing especially considering that there are dozens of options out there offered for free, options that are better and more flexible than anything CCP could EVER give us.

And yet you missed the point of the OP. You aren't even talking about the same thing.

The information is not intended to be accessed corp-wide. As was quite literally and plainly said (and explained by Sterling), it is a simple notes tab like the one we have for players.

I can't read your notes on other players. If I were in your corp, or in any other way related to your account (contact list, whatever) I still wouldn't be able to read your notes on another player. So why would this be any different?

Ultimately it's not about distributing information, it's about making personal records. "XYZ corp is full of awoxing douchenozzles, keep an eye on them" for example. That way in 5 months when you run into the blue corp, you know to keep your eye on them long after you forgot which corp awoxed you.
