Voice interaction (talking to your ship/Aura)

I always wondered why Aura's voice was not rendered using voice synthesis. Nowadays voice synthesis sounds pretty natural, and a lot of the information could be given to you by Aura's voice on your ship.
This alone would be cool.

But now, there's a new trend: semantic voice recognition.
Just see iPhone's Siri, "Ask Ziggy" for Windows Phone, and now Evi for iPhone/Android.
This goes well beyond mere voice recognition, it means talking to your PC naturally.

So the idea would be to speak naturally to your ship (with a button different than that used for Eve Voice) to give it commands, like "return droids to bay" or "set destination to Jita".
This could be a complement to the regular UI, so while you click on critical UI elements (for example, while in combat), you could be issuing less critical commands by voice (which may have a small lag due to the processing involved.)

I know it's highly improbable that this could be implemented, but it doesn't mean that it's not feasable. If you can do it on a mobile phone, it can be done on the Eve client.
One can dream, right? Big smile

Seriously, that would be AWSOOOOME IdeaIdeaIdeaIdea

i would really like it, it would feel like i am in a spaceship!!!

I dont think that it would be hard to implement this to the game but i doubt they would do it soon enough....

This would be VERY hard to implement ingame in any other way than paying a lot of money out to one of the premier voice analysis vendors.

You get this on smartphones because the companies involved are large enough to make the cost something that can be buried into the cost of the phone and contract.

That's, unfortunately, not going to happen given CCP's relatively smaller size.

Seriously? This was just brought up recently. Use the search before posting the same idea all over again. And, as before, it won't happen because it's far too unwieldy a system to try to use in Eve.

I DID used the search, but on this forum. It didn't ocurred to me to search features and ideas discussions in Assembly Hall. P

I don't think CCP can afford to develope their own or purchase the license for someone else's.

I agree.

I said it would be nice to have, not that I urge developers to do it. I just wanted to discuss the matter (because I haven't seen the other post).
I mean, being able to talk to your game, in a game that you're using a head-mounted microphone a lot, is not such a crazy idea, if done properly.

I am well aware of CCP's priorities about development, but I don't think a little discussion about hypothetical feature would hurt anybody.
But thanks for your input.
