Hi there,
I ve been in eve for almost 2 months now, and I'm a low sec dude,so I don't have much idea of all the big wars being fought in null sec. Yesterday while watching YouTube I saw lots of videos of big Wars like world war bee. So, is there any big engagement like the ones before? And also is eve losing players?
I've been in lots of medium engagements against Shadow Cartel but nothing else apart from that .
Since the destruction of CO2 keepstar, I didn't heard anything about big fights.
Also sorry for my ignorance and bad English.
Thanks

Usually you will have to be in a big alliance to become aware of these big fleet fights before they happen as usually these big fights will be fought over timers (On structures and sov). Since both sides are aware when the timer ends, both sides can amass large amounts of ships/players to defend/attack the structure/sov.

Maybe they're just taking a break.

Ah yes, the CCP Public propaganda machine..

Yes they'll advertise the major battles to attract more players all the time and have you believe that these massive wars happen on a weekly or even monthly basis.

But the reality is what you've found out for yourself..mostly skirmishes, sometimes larger battles over structures, but for the kind you seem to be looking for, well, they don't come along all that often.

As for the question of whether eve is losing players, yes it is...we're going through a period of bad decisions by the game devs atm that's causing players to either delete or mothball accounts while they ride it out.

Solecist Project...." They refuse to play by the rules and laws of the game and use it as excuse ..." " They don't care about how you play as long as they get to play how they want."

Welcome to EVE.

Some big ones start over simple mistakes done ingame and one side escalates to big ships, but then the other side also decides to drop their big ships. Out-of-game messaging systems taps everyone who's free in an alliance and everybody piles into the system where the battle is going on. Then the day becomes a 22 hour long battle...

Planned ones revolve around capturing 'flags' and attacking them at a certain time of day (the enemies set this vulnerability time window) and only the strategic stuff escalates into a big engagement. That said, the conflict always involves the big alliances and their friends/neighbors.

Eve is an old old MMO and like other MMOs out there, gamers will get bored of it and switch to new titles etc. So nothing new in players suddenly not logging in...

...then logging back in. Eve usually pulls back its players as it grows late in the year, when conflicts ripen and everybody is itching for a big engagement.

These big news-breaking wars you're looking for aren't nearly as common as CCP wants you to think they are. This is in major part due to the risk-averse nature of nullsec carebears who are more concerned with farming ISK than PvP and blue everyone up.

And EVE wars in general happen during the winter months, when it's wet and cold outside.

When you don't know the difference between there, their, and they're, you come across as being so uneducated that your viewpoint can be safely dismissed. The literate is unlikely to learn much from the illiterate.

Honestly, the big wars and massive battles are the most boring ways to PvP in the game. Stick to small/mid sized battles. Being online in a battle for hours to hit F1 a few times and literally do nothing else isn't engaging gameplay. The youtube videos oversell those battles.

EvE is dying. Since 2005 ^^
People are on summer break/ exams in school etc. December-May is highest activity, now we entering the -25% period.

There is a lot of small'ish engagements, not 5000 people crashing server node that makes it into the news but fleets of 100-200 crash all the time.

What counts as a big battle?

5k + players? That's a major battle, and I'm yet to see one. Though I'm just a newbee.

1k+ players? Think you can get on multiple ones monthly if you are dedicated.

100+ players? That's roughly any ping in peak-time at some places.

Circle-Of-Two [CO2] had a mining operation that was "dread-bombed" (many many dreadnoughts jumped-in). Baited by a small Goon fleet, then dread-bombed by PL. It was a trap.

This battle resulted in more supercapital losses than the legendary B-R5RB battle (Google it). It also caused CO2 to change its policies on how rescues are performed.

Unlike B-R5RB, the CO2 battle didn't get any press.

Battles are a regular occurrence in nulsec, with fleets constantly actively searching for fights or targets of opportunity.

Example: The other day, I was in a small 15-man Thrasher blap fleet to Goon-land. We eventually had a 50-man Caracal fleet, and numerous random others (including a few carriers, FAXes, and a insta-locking Hel) chasing us. We died gloriously, but were probably ISK positive for the roam with the kills we made (my FREE Thrasher was 10 million ISK, and insured). Note: I consider myself an Industrialist, but I like to PvP some too!

CO2 and Goons are officially at war. There have been several large battles over Upwell structures, including helping our friends in TEST. and BRAVE. We even once formed to save a non-friendly reaction tower, because it was strategically in CO2's best interest.

The alliance that picked me up in HS about a month into the game literally fell apart two years later. Reasons amongst others were players...

finishing school
moving to Japan
finally starting to write that thesis
50 year old dating a nineteen year old girl
general boredom in WHs
new boyfriend
new job
shift in work life balance (different reasons)
moving to China
enlisting
new girlfriend
moving to another city

...and many more.

Just the usual rl stuff tbh.
