One thing i am surprised about is that you can't deploy mines...

you really should be able to deploy mines while in space, and also some of them should have clocking devices...

They would be so useful, each mine would have a time limit of 30 mins or so

They used to be in the game. Got removed due to extra server load spraying them around gates left and right caused, for one. Other reasons included issues with aggression acts and different types of space since you could be in one type of space at the time the mine interacts with someone in the other, governed by different set of rules.

Some of them are still in the game, in the form of unusable memorabilia.

No. Please at least do a cursory google search before suggesting things. Mines already used to exist in EVE, however they were so abused and such a hamper on performance that they were removed. CCP will not and should not bring them back.

yes i knew they used to be in the game but i think that was some time ago..

you could have rules in place....

1. none near stargates or stations
2. when you leave the system they would automatically explode
3. time limit

1- Then where? Warp gate to complexes? Celestial's warp in points?

2- The very idea of a mine is a device that defend an area without babysitting.

3- No point to putting a limit if they essentially have to be babysat.

On top of this what happens when a mines takes out a random passerby? That means non in any space where your sec status can takes a hit and certainly non in hisec otherwise how do CONCORD reply?

So allow them in NS and WH space? I can guarantee that every warp in on any site would be spammed to hell with them. Gates would be surrounded with them which is pretty much what used to happen I believe.

They can't work in EvE.

not to mention it doesn't keep 1000+ people from dropping 100+ mines each to crash a node
