Moving ships around (miner and frigate)

I'm new to the game, still figuring out some titbits here and there.

I seen you need to place a moving contract for the ships you want to move and somebody else will move it for you. How do I place such contract and how does it works?

Is there other methods I can use to move ships around, without buying a freighter?

freighter / Jump freighter
orca
Deep space transport
t1 industrial

^ those are the industrial ships that you can use to move your ships, listed from more space to less space at disposition.
pls notice that ships packaged occupy less space than ships unpackaged and fitted with mods.

you can always package up your ship, in the process you will lose the rigs fitted.
that's for how highsec is concerned.

people can use even carrier, dreads, supers and titans to move stuff. but that is elite mov op! literally 1337

Thank you for the responses!

So, the procedure is:
1. repackage ship
2. put in freighter (freighter size will determine what ship it will take)
3. transport to any station of choice
4. assemble ships

Then I can do anything at that station? I noticed some stations I can place any items and such, as if I have a "outpost" at every station from high sec (1.0-0,6)?

I also noticed it is quite difficult to mine in areas lower than sec 0,7 solar systems without drones to protect me.

Red Frog Freight sounds like the Microsoft of EVE Online transportation. Everyone mentions RFF when I need something shipped. They like UPS? And what if they "lost" my parcel?

mmmmmmmmmmm
best suggestion i can give to you is to join a player corp with vets that can teach you.
you'll learn using half of the time you would use playing alone.

when you buy a ship on the market it is already package (if you buy it through contract though can be package/unpackage, it depends)

initially yes, it's "hard" mining and defending yourself from npcs with low skills, things will get better step by step.
npc difficult goes up while security status of the system goes down basically.

for hauler's contracts the game let you set collaterals: if they lose your cargo they will have to pay to you the collateral (aka the value you have decided for that specific contract). Sometimes people set up a contract just to kill the courier and reclaim the collateral: legit game mechanic.

don't mid RFF for now. being at the start you have nothing worth their service. just go around and buy locally what you need.
keep in mind the main trade hubs: jita, amarr, dodixie, rens.

Worth mentioning the Bowhead on its own here for moving assembled ships as well. Sure it's a freighter but it's also rather different from the others.

As for Red Frog, or PushX which is basically the same service, if you set collateral high enough you don't risk losing anything. If you need something moved and don't have a large enough ship they're both great services.

If you do want to move an assembled ship yourself then things get complicated. You can't put an assembled ship directly into the cargo of another ship yourself (though you can put one in a ship maintenance bay, but that limits you in high sec to an Orca or a Bowhead). Your options are either to repackage the ship, losing all rigs, or trade it to an alt and make a courier contract. It's a bit of a pain but it does work.

Or, you know, fly the ship wherever yourself. I've always liked that option for most purposes even when it involves multiple trips.

If you are talking about the ships you got free in the career missions - most of them will fit in the Nereus you got in the business missions as long as they are packaged. Use the Expanded cargohold modules you also received as mission rewards. It will take a few trips to move everything but the Nereus is reasonably fast.

The second Nereus will not fit - you'll need to fly back in a frigate (or your pod) to collect it.

Hey man,

Welcome to eve! The above tips are good.

One person mentioned you joining a corporation. I believe you show potential for posting here in a well manner and the way you figured some things out yourself.

I would be delighted if you'd want to join our Corp. We are somewhat unique in the sense that we allow all members total freedom, while many other corps, especially the really big ones, demand a certain amount of your mined ore, isk or that you join on a regular basis their fleet operations. Failing to do so will get you kicked.

Send me a mail in game or join our public channel you find in our Corp bio if you're interested to join. Don't apply to join before we've talked, cause we need to give you some advice in advance.

Edit: we are in null sec, so you will immediately be able to mine the best ore in game. We can also put you in a high sec corp we run if for whatever reason you prefer that, but there won't be much social interaction in there.

I think I'm allowed to recruit here on the forums, but I never see others do it. Apologies if it's against the rules.

If you like to move around look at training a Deep Space transport. You can carry combat ships, cruiser or frigate, and a venture as well as a t3d. Carry extra mods and rigs. If you can, carry a few bpc's of ammo and ships you use. Use low slots for mods to make you ship align and warp faster and never carry more than 200m in all.

Welcome to Eve.
