Bounties are an indication of 3 possibilities.

1: You aggravate a lot of people and thus have a high bounty.

2: Trolls, your friends and maybe a few enemies think its funny to burn isk to aggravate you by placing a bounty on you.

3: You like to burn isk by putting bounties on yourself.

Bonus reason is old bros like to mess with new bros who beg for isk in rookie help chat where asking for isk is not allowed.

Bounties are useless beyond sending subtle messages, the context of which is likely only ever known by the person who places the bounty or in the case of someone who likes to gank and gets them often from their victims.

When you are killed your killer gets 20% of the value of whatever you were flying at the time.

It is not 20% worth of what you are flying, it is 20% of what you are losing - after dropped loot and insurance. This can make a big difference.

Moo! Uddersucker, moo!

I got trolled and some bounty on my head. A great way to introduce a newbie to EVE Online. I expected this to happen anyway! Big smile

But what I want to know is, will the bounty be reset to 0 ISK when somebody kills me? I see they can only claim up to my ship and modules worth, but if my bounty exceeds that of my ship value, they will get 20% of the total bounty?

Anyone who has expertise, please advise me on this matter. To be on the wanted list is a bit annoying and some people will now hunt me down in low sec areas.

Actually it does not work at all. Except for putting a red square over people's profile it has no difference whatever.

It's more like a bug but people call it a feature.

Jumpclone, fly to lowsec, get podded. Fixed.

Should be removed or revamped but CCP have more important matters to attend to.

OP I've heard that joining doomheim gets rid of your bounty.

As I see it, there is only one way that a proper bounty system might possibly work in EVE and it would involve a complete restructure of the way EVE membership works.

That would be if the EULA restricted membership to a single account. This would be in the form of a portfolio with what we presently know as "accounts" forming folders within the portfolio but subject to separate billing.

All characters in the portfolio would be blocked from claiming bounties on each other.

Any attempt to evade the single account rule, by whatever method, being punishable by lifetime ban.

I doubt that any such restructure would ever be considered by CCP.

I find it funny. Am I an evil or a good person?
Place bounty (evil) or send isk (good) in order to vote.
