yours is a typical response of a EVE hardcore player, it is easy, see i make it and now i am good, of course, since you take the time and effort to do it, it is no longer a game, it has become a kind of job or hobby likely

how many of such you are there, are you even paying any real money to EVE?
if not, then you are a parasite and not a fund contributing player
then of course, you dont want to change EVE, you have taken all this trouble, why should it be easier for anyone else?

how about the causal players who would rather buy than mine for plex
they do not the time or even the interest to be hardcore, to learn all the innards and just want to enjoy other aspect of EVE

once people start forming emotional attachment to their stuff in EVE, which is a good thing because it will make them enjoy more
but also, shatter them when they get hit the first time even thought they have been repeated warned

it is like someone playing with dolls and being told that it will be taken away
and when it happen, it was such a bad experience that they cry

how many recover from this and how many remain to become hardcore, that is the question
the answer maybe found from the number of players over the years

i have been thru i think a third of EVE with a character with most attr at level 5 and above
but it is increasingly looking like work instead of fun, even thought i buy plex instead of mining it

so i give away all my EVE stuff and just drop in once a year to see if it is better, better as in more causal friendly
this time, something worst is happening, not only everything same same, but i am getting socket disconnect for the first time
every hour or two
fatal in a PVP situation, so bye bye EVE

Let me sum this up for you.........
1.) I pay subscriptions
2.) I am space rich
3.) I am able to plex everything if i wished but refuse to.
4.) I have only recently played EvE hardcore because i decided on a goal and an agenda.

  • 4a.) I enjoy helping those that are my friends and part of my organization(group, not corp) because I can.
  • 4b.) I am Retired in RL, I have more time to play, I can purchase things from and for Casual players.

5.) I have several years experience, I know how the game works.

  • 5a.) Is it my fault if newbros dont want to learn or listen to advice?
  • 5b.) Is it my fault that Casuals want to be selfish?
  • 5c.) How many times does an experienced player have to say "Get into a player group/corp" for it to sink in what EvE is about?

6.) True Hardcore = a player that is willing to attempt to get into be a content creator for his/her membership, willing to be a corp CEO/ Full time FC/an Alliance Executor/Logistics Driver on call/Spymaster(head of the CIA/FBI) for group/Director of Communications..........basically Leadership, not a line member.....Line member = playing for fun. Hardcore/Leadership = playing on a different level and for others/making your own fun.

Now for my interpretation of things

  1. Highsec is not any more a PVE area than a deep nullsec blue region.
  2. 2.) Casuals and such need to start listening to the Veteran Heirarchy.
3.) In Highsec(largest problem area), to defend/fight against certain aspects YOU NEED TO GROUP UP!! Though it can be done, EvE is not a game for solo play, it does not have the content for it....which is why Groups/Corps/Alliances/Multiboxers will always win hands down.
4.) Only difference between Highsec and every where else......Concord and the mechanics governing it, get used to the idea instead of trying to destroy EvE with yours.
5.) Last but not least....Veteran Heirarchy exists, has been established for many years, has paved the way already....quit trying to beat your head against a wall, we already teach how to be on par with us in a few short months it is not our fault you think your WoW type of play will work here. (It wont btw, we would rather see you die in a fire to learn if you wont listen).

TLDR: Take your idea and scrap it, its garbage, and so is anybody/post supporting it.

1) create a new class of really tough ships for PVE palyers, that only can be brought by real cash or some type of credits that cannot be earn in EVE

2) these class of ships which are just souped up version of existing ships can be destroyed if enough firepower is deployed
so that will still allow ganking to happen but will required a big fleet

3) these ships once destroyed can be redeemed by in game insurance but will be gone forever if not insured, so the risk element is still intact

4) these ships, especially industrial ships have some weapon slots so that ganking can be a lot more challenging and can happen more often since the PVE players can now gang together to provide greater firepower to dither gankers who then have to assemble a big fleet to take out a herd of " grazers " who then can also hire a fleet of merc on standby to jump the gankers
since these tough ships will not go down so fast

5) these ships may have to be tagged in such a way that concord will only respond in specifc ways or situation
so that it is worth the while for the gankers to take on these ? elephants

then, EVE will have epic battles going on all day because the hardcore PVE people can now fight back but in a way like a buffalo vs a lion where one is active aggressive while the other is passive aggressive

where we will have huge " herds " of miners ganging together to raise the bar for gankers to field even large pride of lions to take them down, but beware, it may be a trap where hired hunters are in waiting.

EVE is an open classless system. As such, a player can take any ship and use it anyway he sees fit. Thus, number 1 is an instant fail as that ship will be immediately used for PvP. Second the idea of making this a RMT will clearly make the game pay to win. Everyone doing "PvE" will have to have one or always be at a permanent disadvantage.

As for number 2, so what? The carebear mentality will not go away with this. In fact, the carebear will likely fit the ship with even more bling and then cry all the louder when it is ganked. There is no patching out stupid.

3: There will be little to no risk here in that people will simply always make sure the ship is insured. Further, this goes counter to the core philosophy of the game. In EVE unlike many other games, when you "die" you lose something. Insurance is not complete (no insurance anywhere, in fact, is complete).

4: There is literally NOTHING stopping players from ganging up to help each other. What is stopping them is the carebear mentality. This is a pernicious and destructive mentality. It is a mentality that prevents the player from using strategies to avoid being ganked, getting help and even being more productive.

5: Special treatment is bad. That is what we see every day in PF&ID. Players wanting special treatment and getting it will simply lead to more and more of it. In economics we call it rent seeking and it is generally seen as a bad thing as more and more effort goes into rent seeking (taking other people's stuff) vs. being creative and productive. Do we really want more and more players lobbying for special this and special that with the game actually suffering? No.

PVE players can always fight back, either directly or indirectly. Directly is obvious, you get in a combat ship and shoot the other guy. Indirectly you "fight back" by avoiding those instances where you are facing a direct attack. Competition is not limited to just the direct variety. Adapting and being better at getting away means those hunting you will go after the slower types. PVE players can group up as well. There is nothing preventing this except themselves. When hauling with a freighter simply having a scout can make a huge difference. He jumps in, sees the bumper and says, "Don't jump in! Bumper! Get safe!" Ta da--you win! Your cargo is safe, your ship is safe, and all because of a guy in a noob ship. Having a group of guys on voice comms while mining will make it easier to spot a hostile such as a New Order member coming into system. 5 guys periodically checking local will be more effective than one guy. Being on voice comms makes communication faster and more effective.

Gankers and war dec corps have an entire organization backing them up. Guys moving ships and ammo around, guys fitting ships and putting them on contracts. Guys out scouting. Guys running any SRP program. Guys who will bump ships. And then you'll have an entire fleet to gank the ship. War dec corporations and alliances are similar as well. Of course the targets of gankers and war dec corps are going to lose. They are going to lose because they do not put in a similar amount of effort. They'll simply do something stupid like overload their freighter after anti-tanking it and jump blindly into a 0.5 system were a bumper is waiting. They deserve whatever they get in this game because they were so reckless. Nobody should be surprised in a competitive PVP sandbox MMO that when they are reckless somebody is there to take advantage of it. That is exactly how the game works. If you think this is wrong, you do not understand the game. At all.

And as for miners, it should not take very long to get into a procurer. A procurer is a very tough mining ship. The only thing tougher, in HS, is the skiff which is a bit more skill intensive. A group of players in procurers can have a ship with well over 70,000 EHP, and can do damage as well. 5 guys in procs are more than a match for 5 guys in catalysts. You already have the ship you are talking about for mining.

So a big fat "No." to this.

Totally not P2W. Nope, no-siree.

what are you talking about?
read carefully,
it is not P2W
it is more like PAY to GET SHOT AT but WATCH OUT, I CAN BIT BACK a little!!

You said in the OP: "1) create a new class of really tough ships for PVE palyers, that only can be brought by real cash or some type of credits that cannot be earn in EVE"

That is pay to win.

It's not just a case of winning against the people that are trying to shoot you, it's about winning against the other people trying to run PvE content, too.

If a pirate looks at one of these "really tough ships", he's not going to say "well, time to get my friends together for an EPIC space battle!", he's going to go "feck it" and simply move on to some other less well defended target exactly as he does today. The result being that people who don't pay to use this new class of ships will get shot, while the P2W ships can rake in money completely uncontested.

Remember: When you're attempting to run PvE content in the face of PvP danger, you're competing on an even playing ground with the other people trying to run similar PvE content. Everyone is facing the same problem and must try to figure out the best solution. Your suggestion breaks that balance and simply hands victory to whoever happens to pay cash to CCP.

i am sorry, i think i do not understand P2W

how do a miner in EVE P2W when he is sitting inside a tough ship surrounded by his merc fleet trying to fight off a large ganker fleet that will eventually pound him to death, while concord is just watch to see that no rules of engagement is violated

he will lost everything finally but what a battle, the gankers are not going Scot free either
he lost his insurance "again" and all his minerals and have to rehire the merc "again"

game mechanics, still the same as now but up a lot of notches higher, more fun for all
and most important, now the sheep cannot complain and therefore they will return again

what is the point of ganking anfd grieving to the level where gamers leave
less sheep for you and less investment for EVE

Because the battle will not happen. CODE. won't be going after those ships just as they tend to avoid procurers and skiffs. Nobody else will either because there is no profit in it. So the battle will not occur.

Further, everyone not buying one of these ships will be at a disadvantage so there will be a strong incentive to buy one to get that advantages.

It is pretty much a classic definition of pay to win.

I like the idea of PvE in EVE, but not in the way you are setting it up. Honestly, they could easily switch High Sec over into a PvE zone already. Other than Gankers like CODE, it already runs mostly as a PvE area with Low, Null, and WH being PvP.

Really, all they would need to do, is flip a switch and have it so Players can not damage other Players in High Sec. there you go, a whole PvE Zone.

And likely a dead game. The core philosophy of EVE is that nowhere are you completely safe. In HS you are safer but not completely safe. In fact, attempts to nerf certain types of HS PvP (either on purpose or inadvertently) also tend to coincide with a trend downwards in players logging in.

Quote:
Honestly, what I say they might be able to do as an idea, is make a smaller version of Eve that is PvE only. Much more compact so no Titan or Capital ships. No ships focused on PvP stuff, and no items for PvP either. Such as no warp disruption fields or Items that prevent ships from Warping, as the rats don't ever try to warp away. Criminal and Concord system would need to be reworked to as 'Susp' that steal loot from other players would now be the Criminals, unless they completely remove that ability too.

Go play on the test server. PvP is pretty much prohibited except by mutual agreement and in a few designated systems. Further, everything there is super cheap.

of course most or even all of you are right, from your hardcore perspective but from a newbie or causal player point of view
EVE is not for me,

Then don't play. Stop trying to turn the game into something it is not so that some casual/new players can made to feel safer/better.

The whole idea of EVE is Everyone Vs. Everyone and that is is sandbox. As a result via emergence players have grouped up to gain advantages over others. The larger the group, the more cohesive the group, the better the group works the more successful the group will be. As a casual player who wants to just log in from time-to-time and just do some PvE you are almost always going to be at a disadvantage. You will work your way up the learning curve more slowly. You will be less aware of various meta-gaming aspects of the game universe you want to play in. You will always be out performed in regards to logistics, combat, etc. You either accept this and continue to play or you don't and move on to a game that does not have these elements. BTW, I would find such a game boring. Just as not everyone likes to eat spinach, EVE is also not for everyone.

I also want to add that PvP and PvE do co-exist already. Many players who PvP also engage in things like missions, ratting, industry, etc. Most players have in game income sources. The entire idea here is based on this false dichotomy that PvP and PvE cannot co-exist. They do and this creates a much more interesting game.

With new AI and group pve we gonna see more PvPvE, personally I'd like more player controlled content instead of AI but it's ok.

Imagine a mission or combat site where you would fight rats controlled by another player via some sort of RTS interface. Difficulty x10, fun factor for both players x10 xP

This already exists, it is known as "PVP".
