There is a dedicated Linux section of the forum:

As a user of Windows, Linux (several distributions) and OSX, I exclusively play EVE on Windows (because convenience suits my level of laziness), but by far I prefer Linux to any other OS. Good luck with it.

I use Mint for all of my business stuff, but win10 for games. Getting games to run on non-microshaft operating systems is still too much of a ball-ache.

Friend, it isn't the dyslexia that is causing there to be no answers for you. We're not quite sure what issues you're actually having.

1) If it is giving an error about steam, that is strange, because it doesn't seem like you installed the steam version.
-Snorlax ported the launcher so that it works on linux natively, and those eve uni instructions pretty much said to do that...steam isn't involved at all.

2) Can you actually log in or not?

3) Shortcuts and crap on the desktop is pretty easy....if it doesn't work for some reason...I think that might be the dyslexia or maybe you're using a desktop that operates slightly differently...or back to #1 and you just have no idea where you installed eve at or from.

Can you give us a few hints as to what is going on?

Most likely you are missing some lib32s. Check the main support thread for the eve launcher in this subforum!

If you can run from the terminal you can create your own icon to launch

FOR WINDOWS LAUNCHER
under icon settings - application:
env QT_OPENGL="desktop" env WINEPREFIX="/home/username/.yourwineprefix" wine "C:\EVE\Launcher\evelauncher.exe"

For native launcher:
/home/username/evelauncher/evelauncher.sh (or wherever you installed it to)

(you can just create a shortcut to it by just dragging the evelauncher.sh to desktop and selecting create shortcut)

to make it pretty you can select the eve icon under icon settings - general

obs: my desktop is kde-based there may be slight differences for gnome / unity / xfce

Steam error can be safely ignored
