While yes, losing my Retriever is what triggered me bringing this up to the Forums, it isn't just me I am 'Crying About'. I was not afk, and was with a fleet of 7 people, including 3 other miners and 2 escort to protect us since CODE was in the system.

If you aren't AFK you will literally never lose a PvE ship in HS or null. I call massive BS on this. You have to go out of your way to be ganked in HS anymore...

Wait wut? You knew CODE. was in system and you kept mining in paper mache mining ships? Seriously?

I am amazed that such a pathetic "I LOST MY SHIP AND SUCK AT EVE PLEASE NERF EVERYTHING BUT ME" thread managed to get this far.

Frankly, I've yet to see where the problem is. The first month of my short Eve life I spent mining Hi-Sec exclusively. I have never run into anyone claiming to be Code, never been ganked there. Never...nothing...nada. The only place I've ever seen or heard of Code is in this forum.

What I do see is some self serving, poorly thought out suggestions that demonstrate a fundamental lack of understanding as to the design concepts and philosophy, not to mention the 14 years of history, of Eve.
I've been here about two months. Never played the game before that, despite having been involved in gaming since, like, home PC's were invented. But up until the last few years, I'd never seen this phenomenon of people trying a game, finding they suck at it, and then demanding that the developer dumb down the game to appeal to the lowest common denominator. It's mind-boggling, really.

This game isn't for everyone. That's the most oft repeated comment on this forum. And yet, no one ever thinks that it might apply to them. Can't hang in Hi-sec? There are more than 8000 systems in New Eden. If you can't find somewhere to do your thing without worrying about getting ganked by some pre-pubescent, pimple faced Code scum, well, you're just not trying hard enough.
Again, this game is not for everyone. Just admit it to yourself. There's no shame involved. No one will look down on you. Maybe Candy Crush is more your speed. Just stop trying to get CCP to turn Eve into a Disney attraction. It's NOT going to happen.

Respectfully Submitted

Shiptoasters like this should be permanently hunted by CONCORD everywhere in game. And they should be vulnerable to any and all players too.

Reading this in isolation, you're the first person who comes to mind.

Just another carebear that doesn't know his arse from his elbow.

Take some advice from someone who mines in a gank happy system:
If you know code are in system you should swap retties for procs. You were in a fleet so you can afford to have a dedicated hauler. There was no need whatsoever for your protection, ganking has been nerfed so hard that they have to kill you in a few seconds. You won't blow them up quick enough to stop a gank without a gang of dessies yourself. It's easier to just tank. Also bring some ecm drones, they are fairly good at jamming destroyers. And always, always tank your god damn barges.

Finally, do not think this game is here to hold your hand and make sure you're ok. It's not. EVE is unlike anything you've ever played before. It's a full-time pvp mmo and it WILL punish you for your mistakes. It will even kick you when you're down given half the chance. If you aren't ready to accept a game that punishes the weak and foolish, then eve is not for you.

I'm not going to add to the victim is responsible hype here in the thread, but I do not agree that either code or ganking is an overwhelming problem.

Whilst being Ganked is annoying, It is a reasonable part of the flavour of EVE, and does have the balance tweaked, either way from time to time, to keep things reasonably sane.

The real elephant in the room is the Wardec mechanics that does a vast amount more damage than Ganking ever has, though I imagine after losing a barge, hearing that isn't much consolation.

CCP need to deal with issues that actually cause real harm, losing an odd ship is nothing in the great scheme of things.
