Tech II Drone BPOs

I'm fairly new to the whole industry side to EVE having been mostly military throughout my career. Just looking ahead at potential ways to make money and I've noticed an extreme lack of Tech II Drone BPOs and when I say lack I mean they don't exist on the market at all.

Is there anyway to get a hold of one of these at all or should I just admit that it will never happen and look into something else?

Tech II BPOs are EXTREMELY rare and valuable items which were distributed years ago before the invention system was introduced. They only rarely change hands for prices upwards of 50 billion ISK or so.

The ususal way of producing Tech II items is through using the aforementioned invention system to create Tech II BPCs from Tech I BPCs. You can read more on the system here:

I sell hundreds of T2 drones every week and I don't own a T2 BPO. You can create T2 BPCs using an invention process https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Invention

T2 BPOs do exist - CCP handed some out using a lottery process back in the dark ages but quickly realized that was a bad idea. You can occasionally find them in contracts or offered in the sell order section of the forums. Pricing is in the billions. They are more of a collector item than an industry tool.

Thanks for the speedy responses guys, I was reading into creating T2 BPCs using T1 stuff but was more just curious about about bypassing that completely.

all Tech 2 BPOs are rare and will be expensive if the owner decided to sell it.

T2 production is a pretty good gig. I used to mass produce Ishtar bpc's before they got nerfed, and got 25 mil each for them. Be advised, building any T2 equipment is going to be different than constructing the t1 counterpart. What I found works is to build the bpc and the t1 version myself then buy everything else.

Example Panther: Sell for 900 million, buy 700 million parts. Net pay is 200 mill for about 3 days worth of mining ore.

(My mining skills are pretty bad)

The prices for anything worth manufacturing are set by invention.

Invention can produce a much higher output volume than a T2 BPO.

Legacy T2 BPOs are typically sold at prices equivalent to 5 or 10 years, or even more, of constant production. These are a horrible investment for manufacturing (huge opportunity cost), and are only useful if you use them for a while then sell them at a profit.

Just to give a sense of how rare these are, I believe there were exactly 24 of each T2 drone or ammo BPO ever seeded.

They were seeded about 10 years ago and many have been destroyed.

You can, however, absolutely vomit out Warrior IIs through invention, and as a new player this is quite profitable. Purchase 3 or 4 Warrior I BPOs, copy 2 of them, and research the other one to 10/18 or 10/20.

Then invent the copies and you will get a lot of 10 run Warrior II blueprint copies. These will give you a high return on investment when you build them.

Yeah, Warrior II is profitable (not super, but solid) and you don't need to mess with decryptors as the best option is "none". It's a good starter item. Use this site for the math: http://eve-industry.org/calc/

Others have mentioned, building T-2 can be profitable but it also requires that you find ways to cut costs, make sure your planetary skills are up to snuff, lots of T-2 builds use planetary tier products.

that sounds a lot like minerals I mine are free. if you have to "cut costs" to make an item profitable you are better off selling the components and/or inventing something else.

No you do not need to do any of that stuff.

You need to buy the PI stuff off the market, same as I do.

If you harvest PI yourself (which I do not), you need to factor in its full market price in deciding whether or not it is worth turning into T2 goods. You might have only paid 8000 ISK for each unit of Robotics you built via the PI interface, but they are still worth 103000 or so.

It's T1 that you need to cut every corner imaginable on.

While planetary materials have value most people consider it a "passive" income, as with everything, moon mining, etc, we all pay for this stuff bringing it up moving it around, and the likes, depending on the market leaves you dependent on others and the prices the market sets, the more you can doo do on your own the lower the costs I'm saying, another factor is, is Indy all they will do, if so then they plan on moving stuff, problem is the quantity of materials available that you get from high sec PI.

So if quantity is what your after buying makes sense, if it is a component to supplement income then PI makes sense, just saying.
