I find it hard to imagine since it's a fantasy.

Though I could imagine losing a 400B ISK Vanquisher. But it wouldn't bother me much. You know why? Because I could afford to lose it, else I wouldn't be flying it.

Crime: posting killmail in GD.

Punishment: Getting your topic moved to C+P, where you always post with your main. As a penance, you have to move 50M trit out of Mai, because... I mai have bought 50M trit in Mai and you look like a good unsuspecting vic... er, reliable freighter pilot.

No one lost $6000.

OP you're an idiot and should feel bad.

Ugh. I'm in agreement with Shae on something. What can I mix with bleach to make it go down better?

This business of "hey someone lost $$$$" is generally a bad idea and dumb. It would be a good idea if we stopped doing it.

Why?

Recall some big fight a few years ago, before World War Bee, where some huge ISK/PLEX/$$ amount was destroyed and it made the news.

The last thing this game needs is some image of it being played by rich shitlords throwing "thousands of dollars worth of space ships around" while women and children (it's always women and children the way the media operates these days, right?) starve to death in his driveway.

Having seen a lot of victory of rhetoric over dialectic, do you think Joe Sixpack and Sally Soccermom are going to understand that no real $$ was lost and that it was from in-game generated currency (generated by the computer) and hence never had any real $$ connection to the real world?

Nope. Most people don't go that deep. They are incapable of it. That's why democracy destroys civilizations that try it.

So please, do the game a favor (an help it survive the collapse of western civilization) and stop it with the "hurr durr $$$ was lost" routine. It's dumb and misleading.

Bring back DEEEEP Space!

in-game ISK is worth less than a turtle's turd, but if it makes you happy to see people lose their money, go ahead. I rather laugh at the people in the Nurburgring that lose some real money by being horrible drivers.

And here I thought losing a Gold Magnate or something like that would be on top of the list...

.... which is the first thing I thought too, but you would have to stretch your imagination a little there. Since the Gold Magnate was killed in 2004, it would not have been worth that much - I cannot imagine any player would be willing to pay that much for a ship in 2004.
As comparison, an auction for a Raven State Issue in 2010 reached just 210B in bids (4 original specimens).

A Guardian Vexor which was destroyed as late as 2014 could maybe be quite up there in value, but apparently a Vexor was sold in 2013 for just 85B, so...

OP missed the CO2 mining-op that got dread-bombed, resulting in more capital losses than the infamous B-R5RB.

It also wasn't newsworthy.

These issues are always interesting from a philosophical perspective.

Firstly though I'd be pretty sure that somewhere in the EULA CCP says they own everything all the time, no matter how much money players spend. I never read Terms and Condititons, etc., because they always say the same thing. All your stuff belong to us.

Ownership is one of the issues that crops up. How we tie items to our individual selves. Which is great for marketing, but terrible for our souls and any chance of happiness. It does however provide a living for people selling snake oils of happiness.

Virtual currency is another issue that crops up. All money is virtual, it's an emotion driven IOU. Legally the main difference between game currencies and legal currencies is maintained so that gambling can be done with the virtual currency without it being defined as gambling. Even though there is a direct tie between "real" currency and "virtual".

But wait, there's more...

There has to be some sort of emotional attachment to the item, otherwise people wouldn't bother fighting over the items.

A love of virtual things, which shows that it's not the things that drive us, but the virtual emotions that drive us.

They could be pieces of carrot, if people were emotionally attached to the pieces of carrot.

Or an inflated bag of air that we fight over. Like the billions of dollars we spend on football codes.

CCP depends on people destroying other people's stuff. They need people to be bad to others.

Otherwise nobody would feel any emotions of fear of loss, anger at loss, sadness at loss.

Loss makes CCP happy.

Happiness is a warm gun.
