Launch Cargo into Sun

An alternate cargo jettison option that appears when players are on grid with a sun (Praise the new sun!). It shoots cargo into the sun using the discovery survey probe's launch animation. When the cargo missile finally hits the sun a brief solar flare occurs.

Making this suggestion as a way to ceremoniously dispose of infected corpses and other space rubbish.

You should also take damage based upon proximity to a star. That way you can have scummy people who turn your funeral for others into... your funeral for yourself.

Damage from a solar flare might be fun. I wonder what sort of temporary status effects (negative or positive) could come into play from a solar flare?

+1

I need a way to dispose of all these confiscated drugs. Solar incineration seems like a top notch way to do that.

I used to be a drug enforcement agent on a mission to get capsuleers to kick their bad booster habits.

I was an officer of the law! I know better than to relinquish narcotics back into the hands of shifty space civilians.

Disposal by solar incineration. It's the only way to be certain.

NO, not needed.

Simply haul to station near you , dock and select "trash" from the right click menu and it will be gone, and the best part is no dev time needed.

For things you do not want to dock up with in your cargo simply eject them into space and fly away they will disappear when the jet can is removed from space. Again the stuff your do not want is removed from the game and no dev time is needed to implement it since this is already a feature in the game.

Don't mind jettisoning anything to the sun and it being destroyed.

No damage from the sun though.

Where is your sense of adventure?

I'd enjoy a feature like this as a compliment to lighting a cyno for a fallen friend. Select a corpse + some accouterments, right click on the stack and select "jettison into sun" and off it goes. A little no damage flare shoots off after it takes the 2-3 minutes to reach the sun.

It's a space viking funeral. That'd be badass.

The Devs put a decent amount of time into updating those star textures. As quipped in a fanfest keynote, the graphics team is prodding other teams to put in missions and events on grid with these suns to show the effects off more.

The OP suggestion is a novel way to interact with the sun that doesn't affect game balance (as long as solar flares don't do damage). From things like holding memorials, disposing of infected corpses, incinerating illicit drugs, etc, this act of destroying stuff in the sun would seem to hold a lot more room for player generated narrative than simply clicking the trash button.

I'd rather see some kind of mechanic allowing you to create a sort of drag bubble that drags people into the sun. Of course, they would then need to be crispified.

It would be cancer, and it would be hilarious cancer at that.

You know, come to think of it...

Planets have important gameplay functions, and moons have important gameplay functions, and asteroid belts have important gameplay functions.

Stars are just a designated 1v1 spot. Surely stars should be good for something. Hmmm...
