Something I've never understood about Amarr space...

Whenever you hear talks of clear times, best ship, etc. - a frequent comment is "In Amarr space, ____ is great." Of course, usually laser-based ships.

Here's what I don't get.

Don't agents assign a general mix of NPC factions to fight against? For example, when I was running for Caldari factions - sure, I'd get a reasonable amount of Guristas. But there were a healthy chunk of missions that _weren't_ guristas. Serp, Sansha, Blood, a bit of Angel...

So here's my question.

I want to do some missioning in Amarr space. But if I bring only a laser boat, how bad off am I when I run into factions (level 4 missions) that are heavy resisted against lasers? (EM / therm, right?)

Let's assume I'm trying out the Nightmare (never flown it before) with all relevant gunnery skills at V, Caldari BS at V, and Amarr BS at only IV. Are some missions going to be super-slow? Or just a notch slower?

I always thought l4's were a mix of everything for every race and region has not much to do with it. The more you know..

Nightmare has so much dps that even shooting sub-optimal damage type should not be a problem. Angel missions will not be super-slow... Maybe 30% slower. As for laser based ships in Amarr space... no they are not great. Paladin is ok because of it's ewar resist but other ships get dunked by TD.

all the generic missions lasers do fine on, drones, mercs, eom it all dies in a fire rather quickly vs lasers. It's mainly guristas and angels that present any sort of problem, and the main problem is more of a slow down than actual problem. The only "problems" Amarr space gives you is a few easy blitzable gurista missions, and angels extra which is a right pain in the arse, and I decline no matter what even in a mach.

honestly lasers work mostly fine in caldari space, like you say there are a lot of generic missions. You might want something else for the gurista missions but if you blitz them for the most part it won't matter too much.

minmatar and gallente space throw in a bunch more angel missions and I haven't done the research on those. I know the blitzable missions mainly thanks to laangisi, but haven't done the grinding to know in the general pool.

personally I like switching ships so having a few around to play with works well for me.

people are not necessarily talking only about missions- in amarr space if you run ded sites and anomalies you will get sansha and blood raider npc which are weak to em damage

Each faction has its own "mission pool" to choose missions from, complete with probabilities for choosing some missions more than others.. Location has nothing to do with it.

For example, the Serpentis L4 agents in Fountain give the exact same missions as the lone Serpentis L4 agent in Curse, despite these two cases being at complete opposite sides of the universe.

location absolutely has something to do with it, a bunch of missions have their own regional variant based on the local rats. The blockade is one of the easier examples, amarr can have blood or sansha depending on region, gallente gets serpentis, and minmatar space gets angels. If you run SoE missions in apanake you get a lot of missions vs blood raiders, if you run in laangisi you get a lot against angels.

Serpentis and Angels should have common enemies so I would guess the missions they offer are similar

eve-survival gives you information, what damage type to tank / apply in what mission. It is a good idea to follow that if you want better time/isk ratio. There are few ships, that allow you to adapt your damage type and concidered to be best T1 tools to run L4 missions. LMJD Dominix as sentry drone range tank sniper for poors, Rattlesnake as clear whole pocket machine and Machariel as blitz mobile. No laser boat, you see...
