Pirate EC Iteration

So the Blood raider Sotiyo got me thinking. currently there is no real benefit to having high standings with any of the pirate corps. (beyond being able to run missions) and it comes at the cost of tanking your empire standings.

something I would like to see is the pirate EC's (i'm hoping they come out with more) being non-hostile to people with sufficiently high faction standings to them. maybe +5 and higher is non-hostile, with +7 allowing you to dock. and +8 or higher allowing you to use the EC services (with appropriate bonuses, possibly on par with current pos bonuses since those are going away and EC's don't quite have the same punch or maybe slightly better)

this would NOT give you free intel on where the sotiyo is located, you would still need to do the legwork to find it. it would also make balancing standing more difficult, since these things spawn in regions that have npc rats of that faction but not missions (AFAIK) so maintaining your standing would mean not ratting (or needing to rat on a different character) in the space.

would also be a potential conflict driver between players, and the corps/alliances would need to choose between popping the EC for the drops, or helping to defend it from attackers (to make use of its bonuses, hence why they should be better than regular ones)

the standings should be on a per-pilot basis, not on a corporate or alliance level. so any pilot you want to bring to help defend the EC (if that is what you are doing with it) would need to maintain their standings. this is to make it more difficult to defend.

would actually give meaning and tangible benefits to maintaining high standings, and could help drive pvp conflict.

CCP have very specifically said standings do not matter as it is a high security zone.
Simply because you have standings does not make you authorised to get into their top security capital production facility.

Not to mention so abusable for logi on grid etc.

Fair enough, I knew it was high security, but I figured it might be an interesting idea (hence why the really high standings barrier)

the logi on grid is a good point that I hadn't thought of. but i'm sure it could be coded that repairing a hostile ship would automatically transfer their standings to you temporarily (similar to crime watch)

probably more trouble than its worth though. I was just hoping that maybe one day RP loyalists might actually get something worthwhile for it lol.

They already do, with the mining fleets, and that AI is getting extended through the game slowly. (Much as I prefer the word associates)

Yeah I knew it existed for the mining fleets, this was an idea to extend it upwards to some of the other content.
