Okay so i have heard multiple things about alts, but im very confused about how it works. I heard that if you have two characters and ones an alpha clone that you made an omega with subscription/plex, that if i had two BOTH of them would have to be omega for me to be able to play either of them at all. Is it possible to have two characters. im on steam, what i mean by alts is where i log in and it has two other character slots that i can create a new charecter in. if i was to make another charecter, would both need to be omega'd to let me log into either? or can i have one omega account on the left for example, and one alpha in the middle, would i be able to log into both at the same time, or just one at a time but not need them both to be omega?
sorry if this post is a bit jummbled up and confusing, if you are confused tell me and i will try explain better in the comments, tons of people talking to me right now in real life so couldnt focus on just this.

IDK anything about how steam works.

That being said with normal Eve accounts:

Each account has 3 Character slots. If the account is Omega then every character on that account is Omega. However you can only train one character at a time unless you pay extra for multiple character training. Also you can only be logged onto one character at a time.

If you have multiple accounts that are Omega you can be logged into all of them at the same time on one computer.

If you have one alpha account logged in no other account can be logged in on the same computer at the same time. Each alpha clone account is limited to one logged on per computer at any given point in time.

In review:
You can log into as many Omega accounts at once as you like from one specific computer but if you log into one alpha account you will have to be logged out of all the other Omega accounts.

You have up to 3 character's per account but can only be logged into one character per account regardless of clone status.

Omega applies to the entire account. If you are subscribed to the game, all three characters will be considered Omega. You can only log in and play one at a time however. You may also only train one at a time unless you activate dual character training.

Support Article - Setting an account name for Accounts created through STEAM

You don't need to login through STEAM.

Typically one uses additional accounts for alts that will be logged-in at the same time, with all these accounts at Omega status (subscribed).

I have 4 annually-subscribed accounts I can play simultaneously, and one Alpha account that cannot be used with any other account. I don't use STEAM.

An account is a set of login credentials. Each account gives you 3 characters. You can only be logged on to one character for any account at one time.

If you are using an alpha account... you can only log into that one account on your computer.

If you are using an omega account, you can log into another omega account at the same time. This lets you play two characters simultaneously and have six characters in total.

I have two omega accounts (six characters).

I've taken the time to train PI on all my characters... because that brings in good isk for me. They also are all trained to be able to run 9 research jobs at a time.

Other than that, on my accounts I have:

1. My main character
2. A market alt who has trade skills trained that I station trade with.
3. An alt that only does PI and blueprint research only.

4. My "main" for my second account (boosting focused)
5. An alt that only does PI and blueprint research only.
6. An alt that only does PI and blueprint research only.

Most of the time I just have characters 1 and 4 active... the others are all attempting to earn isk in a mostly passive manner. They have value... but it's more limited because of the fact I can only have one active at a time.

I also have 2 alpha accounts that are just training skills at the moment. At some point I may have them go omega in the future... so rather than starting fresh I'm training them with max alpha skills before I reach that point. But I do nothing with those characters (though I may start station trading with a couple of them at other hubs as that really doesn't require simultaneous logins).
