Need help deciding on a BC

Hey guys!

So I'm at the point where I can start using Battlecruisers. So far I've done the training to be able to fly Minmatar BC's and Caldari, but I'm having a hard time deciding between which one to go for.

There's mainly three that I can't decide between: Hurricane, Harbinger(don't have the training for it yet, but wouldn't mind doing it) and Drake.

Can anyone give me some of their recommendations on which one to choose?
Maybe give me some pro's and con's of each one?

Thank you very much in advance guys! <3

Edit: Typos ._.

If you are just moving into battlecruisers it is unlikely that you have both turret and launcher support skills at level 4. It's also unlikely that you've trained to fit a T2 tank for both shield and armor.

Drake is a missile boat optimized for a passive shield tank while Hurricane is a projectile boat optimized for an active armor tank. Both are excellent choices for level 3 missions against Guristas (Caldari space) or Angel Cartel (Minmatar space). Both NPC factions are vulnerable to kinetic damage.

Pick one and train the relevant weapon and tanking skills so you can fit T2 weapons and tank before investing in the other track. Also make sure you train the relevant battlecruiser skill to level 4 to get the hull bonus. You don't need T2 weapons for level 3 missions but a T2 tank is highly recommended.

Another ship you may want to consider is the Gnosis. Very flexible and quite inexpensive at the present time. The role bonuses can save some training time. With the role bonus drones provide a useful secondary weapon system. I used a Gnosis for level 3 missions as a new player - it's an excellent ship.

As he pointed out it's more a matter of where your skills are at, stonger guns or stronger missiles, better armor or shield, also consider the space you will mission in, while I love guns, there are times when missiles are better at dealing with say Guristas especially when getting jammed out.

I love my Ferox but have a drake in the hold for those times I need one, but I got to tell you...a brutix is a beast, I really don't like the Minmatar or Amarr line up of BC, just my opinion.

is this for running missions? lv3?

i presume you are flying cruisers currently so i would spend some time upgrading my medium weapon skills and supports, support skills- cap ewar etc and making sure you have a t2 tank for shield and/or armour. cruiser and bc will use all the same skills.

i havent really flown any amarr bc but ive just bought a harbinger navy so im looking forward to trying that, i love ferox, brutix and hurricane too.

getting battlecruiser skill to lv4 doesnt take that long so you can have fun trying which style is best for you

my first lv3 bc was a drake and it was great

what cruiser do you like flying? there is probably a battlecruiser version for you to try eg moa- ferox, vexor- myrmidon, stabber- hurricane

If this is for mission running don't spend much time training battlecruisers, just get to BS of choice as soon as possible. If you have drone skills, myrmidon to dominix is probably the quickest/easiest path to L4's. Drone skills are always useful, then you can move towards a better battleship like a Machariel.

If it's for WH PVE, the a drake is probably the quickest, although a hurricane makes for tanky bait if you have friends.

I am a little shocked no one seemed to say this...

You need to decide what you want to be and do when you grow up. You need to pick a "path" (Armor vs shields, drones or projectile or hybrid or missiles) and you need to run that skill set into the ground. Get T2 defenses and weapons, then worry about what you attach those to.

Bigger ships are NOT better ships... in fact rarely is that ever the case. I can run level 4 missions in a t2 cruiser.... easily. This requires no BC skill, no BS skill... just time spent training modules.

I recommend to most people to go Drones (Amarr and Gal ships have bonuses for those), and then a secondary weapon system... as well as some defenses.

The reason for this recommendation is that once you are "no longer" a mission runner (or even as you continue as one) drones will always be useful in almost every single ship you fly, regardless of faction... thus making it the "best (this is an opinion)" skill set to focus on for damage early.

Most importantly, this is a game of long term goals. If you are thinking about what you will be able "to barely squeeze in to" tomorrow without also focusing on making sure that you will fly it well.. then you aren't paying attention to the right things.

If you need further advice, or just to tell me to stfu, feel free to message me.
