Nestor, the odd SOE ship out

As someone who's a fairly big fan of SOE ships I've wondered why the Nestor breaks the stealth theme so hard. While obviously a Battleship that can fit a cov-ops would be OP as **** I don't understand why they didn't give it black ops battleship bonuses at least.

They gave it battlecruiser mass instead. Nestor can fit in C1 wormholes. The biggest problem used to be the price but it's now competitive with other pirate battleships in the 400 million range. I don't think it's practical to try and use all its bonuses at the same time but the ability to fit it for several different roles is likely quite useful when you're a long way from Jita.

I am a fan of SoE and I didn't even notice that. love my astero so much its bling fit. Prob worth more than the nestor hull just because I can afford messing around in it. Only hunts other explorers but its still good at doing so. The only thing in would be missing are the augmented drones, then steal there sites

I have no idea why everybody keep claiming that. Covop cloak ability might be mitigated by some serious drawbacks: increased align time, increased targeting delay after decloak, low scan resolution. Nestor don't have spectacular dps it's a RR ship with very low mass. I have better dps on Gila.

At least we'll get a faction blackops soon, even if it's not the Nestor. And less easy to get. P

Because the CONCORD frigate/cruiser/battleship are now coming out and the CONCORD battleship has the black ops bonuses, so... they didn't want to be redundant.

Better question still is... are we ever going to get a shield RR version of the Nestor, dagnabit! think Rattlesnake but epic drones + epic shield remote reps (like the Nestor's epic drones + epic armor remote reps) instead of drones/missiles.

The biggest buff that the Nestor could recieve would be giving it a Blops jump drive, but I'll just keep dreaming Sad

They should make the Nestor a BLOPS!!

Strip the RR boni and replace them with Logi drone boni. Give BLOPS fleet some decent logi besides etanas and or crippled t3s!

I would gladly sacrifice the hacking bonuses i bet nobody uses on the nestor for cov op cloak.
Its to slow to fly between the data / relic containers anyway...

Not that I think it would be OP for a nestor to fit a covops cloak, but I do think it's fine without it. The nestor has a lot of overlooked strengths, that for some reason, people have been slow to pick up on. Right now I think it's strongest use as a kind of poor man's traige makes it very powerful. Unlike the game's other logi boats, the nestor has ample fitting and native buffer, and can use remote repair augmenters to good effect. With two cap batteries, a max tank fit, two cap boosters, and an ECCM script, it's an excellent logi boat, especially when you've got a cap charge truck. It's crazy hard to neut out or jam, reps almost as well as three guardians, and it's only big downsides are its slow alignment with a prop mod and long lock times. Even in this role it can still do significant DPS, which matters in situation where every ship counts.

I'm a fan of it the way it is, and I hope you take a second look at it. I know it probably doesn't fit everyone's play style, but right now I think it fills a unique and interesting role, even if it's one that's under utilized.

Recently I came across a combat site where two Nestors and two Rattlesnakes were ratting. Never seen that before! Didn't
Know the Nestor was used for WH ratting!

My corp use them for C5s all the time. 1 Eos, 2 Snakes and 2 Nestors. Can run any C5 site including drifter.

The Eos does like 500DPS, Nestors 700 and Snakes 1400 (so way more DPS than 5 RR snakes) . Along with the fact that between the fleet we have 4 TPs, 3 Scrams, 3 Webs, 2 Grapples, 2 Heavy Nuets and the snakes all have multiple Nav/Omnis makes for 1 mean fleet.

If you want max RR the Nestor is great.

Yup 4 nestors can do a drifter too, 3 if you've got links. Kind of slow, but at 20m mass a piece its hard to beat.
