Seeking advice for an ambitious project: Freeport Wormhole Citadel

Hello, thank you for taking the time to read this.

I am the head of the Oasis Freeport Wormhole Citadel project. This is the second attempt at building one. The first survived for 3 months before being attacked and destroyed, and for a short time had a population of 20-30 in it, from several different corps.

Due to inexperience on my part. and a mix of incompetence and sabotage from the industry corp seeding its market, its residency collapsed very quickly and was unable to become profitable.

The funds for the first one were gathered mostly through donation, with no expectation of direct returns. I had nothing at the time to vouch for my honesty, but I did exactly as I said I'd do with the ISK; that is, purchase a Citadel and fittings, deploy it to a wormhole system, and attempt to build a thriving freeport.

The advice I seek is the following:

I now have a proven instance of me doing as I say I will with ISK donated to me. Is it realistic to think that I should be able fund this second attempt from donations as well?

Should I need to open investment options, what are some sensible means of doing so?

What advice may you have on making the Citadel profitable? The main sources of income I have in mind are the export of Planetary Interaction products, wormhole gas, and Sleeper loot.

Thank you for your time.

The problem is, that a public citadel within a wormhole does not offer a value to players, except being an easy target. People wanting to operate out of a (public) wormhole hub already use Thera.

I'm my own NPC alt.

Try to work with the bigger WH corps too, and try to frame your idea as a concept which brings more content to them. The more people operating in WH space, the better for WH space content, etc. Corps might move into your freeport to learn how to use WHs, then branch out and get their own WH (maybe from a connection from yours). You'll be a petri dish for new corps for the big guys to roll over, more or less.

If they agree that just letting you live vs "just another fortizar kill", then they may even help defend if the need arises.

The normal way to raise investment capital is to float a bond. In this case however because of the very high risk involved you might be better advised to sell shares in your corp with the possibility of large profits if your scheme is successful and the possiblity of a complete wipeout if it isn't.
The 1st step is to produce a plan which clearly addresses the problems that arose in your 1st effort. I'd be happy to throw a bill or so at a well thought out and presented plan.
Good luck in your endeavours whatever transpires.

So after reading all that I'd say that is the advice you need to follow. Doesn't matter where the funds come from if you don't fix those mistakes you probably wont even make three months this time. the WH community is pretty small compared to the rest of the game so your reputation as an easy target will be really hard to overcome.

you are going to need to take an active role in operations and you are going to need other people with xp in WH's who are in some way invested in the outcome. There is a lot of mundane work that goes into holding a WH, and a loot piƱata like a Freeport style thingy will need 24/7 surveillance and hole control.

For a project like this you need serious commitment, of players and capital. I very much doubt this will ever succeed on donations. The shares idea is probably best

I might be interested in helping out, for a price.
