Hi I'm a alpha sstate clone on eve online and I love the game so far but I dont know if I want to spend £9.99/month on this game so I suggest that there is a beta clone state which is in-between OMEGA and ALPHA which costs £3.99 this would allow you to get up to Freighters and with factios like SOE you could get there frigates and with ORE you could get mining barges and industrial ships...

Pls do this because I dont know if I want to spend 10 pounds a month on a game that I havent fully been able to try out yet.

heck I spend £9.99/hour when I go out, if not more. getting a whole sub for £9.99/month is worth it. I find the alpha restrictions pretty limiting but I'm used to having far more, as a new player the restrictions are pretty fair and should give you a good chance to try the game out and decide if you want to go further. The game shouldn't fundamentally change, you just gain some additional capabilities.

I'm guessing they are planning a few more clone states, but no news means any implementation is a long ways off.

It's going to take you years to try out everything in Eve. The beauty of alpha is that you can try pretty much anything in the game with no requirement to pay or a time limit. The limitations are there for a reason and doubtfully are going to change any time soon.

Wormholer for life.

You need a crash course in basic Evonomics! To keep the math simple for my mental calculator, I'm going to assume you are willing to pay half the cost of a subscription using real world cash.

As an Omega character you can sell skill injectors. 1 per month is equivalent to 1/3 of the skill points you will normally earn. Your net profit on this injector will be 400 million ISK or 1/3 PLEX. Level 4 PI skills will take a couple of weeks to train and 5 highsec planets will earn you about 200 million/month once you get it figured out. That's enough to PLEX your account every second month and you are using very little playtime to earn that ISK. You are giving up 1/3 of your skillpoints but you're still training faster than an Alpha and there are no restrictions on what you can do in the game. As mentioned, these are rough mental calculations - you may need to do a few hours mining or run a couple of missions to make it work.

If you are willing to invest some time training the second and third character on your account to do PI you can earn half a PLEX per month doing that alone - it means pausing your main to give them the skill queue for a few weeks but they don't need any additional
training beyond that - you'll need to log them in for an hour a week to manage their colonies.

There are lots of ways to make ISK in Eve. Most require a small investment and some knowledge of how the game economy works to get started, the reward for that effort is that other players pay for your game time. (PLEX are originally purchased from CCP with real world money).

For your info, Beta and other clone states between Alpha and Omega have been suggested. The devs haven't said what they'll do, one way or another.

As far as what you want to be included, you're asking for access to quite a few high end ships, so that will pretty much be THE only thing included in Beta, if they ever implement it. Therefore, your Beta won't have faster training speeds.

So, training for that freighter and other ships you want, plus the flying skills to fit them and operate them properly, will take years. For £4 / month. You might as well spend double (£9 per month) and unlock every ship AND the double training speed; it would be a better deal, don't you think?

In a way, anything less than Omega is not a good deal, because Omega gives 2x training speed and no limits for quite cheaply already.

$9.99 a month is very cheap. A dollar a week wouldn't buy you anything near the entertainment time of eve in any other situation so i'm not sure why you think EvE should be that cheap considering what you're getting...

1 Movie ticket is more than $3.99
1 Popcorn also more than $3.99
1 Meal anywhere edible is way more than $3.99
1 Fairground ride probably more than $3.99
1 Ticket to a swimming pool £3.99
2 MP3's or 1 musical single - £3.99

All of which will entertain you for about an hour or two. By this logic EvE should be somewhere between $40 - $100 a month depending how much you play.

Pretty good deal you're getting right now huh? Can even try it for free.

Bet you can't go to a restaurant and lick the food before you decide if you want to buy it Pirate

Let me see...

Freighters... check
Faction ships... check
mining barges... check
industrial support ships... check

We'll need a bucket for the tears.

Sure.

And then we will make a gamma clone state, which will cost 5.99 and give you a little more than Beta.

Then a delta clone state that costs 6.25.

Then an epsilon clone state, that costs 6.27.

And so forth and so forth until we reach Omega triple nigh, which costs 200 dollars a month and you get a free titan every week.

Ohh - so that's why they keep kicking me out - that explains a lot...

OP, just buy a subscription. You've probably spent a whole lot more for a whole lot less entertainment. I know I have.

Beta clone is nonsense really.

The one possibility I see would be to pay for one specific ship for month. Similarly to 30day skins, you would buy a 30 day "permit" to fly Fenrir. That would however work logically only if you already had the skills, otherwise you you have to sub/plex and train the skills before you could use this. But the more I think of it... probably nonsense too.

I spend $14.95 a month. Have for years. Next month I'm finally going to do the annual sub and lower it to $10.95. And it represents a great enjoyment to cost value just like a Netflix or Hulu sub.

You just have to understand that you need to PLAY the game and get your head into it. You'll have some times where you get a bit bored or lost or frustrated or angry or....

Just work through it.

Money well spent.

In my defence I am unsubscribed at present as Cross Stitch Heaven had a free set of threads attached to it this month and I simply can't resist a freebie.
