Seriously this needs to be a thing.

Duel + Bet request sent 1min for bets to be placed after clicking on one of the dueling ships flashing some color set in overview tab in local and getting a betting popup. Bets are simple. Who is going to win, X amount of isk bet and anyone who wishes to put isk on the other guy. If no one bets or no one takes another persons bet in 1 min the duel commences and the winner is announced and bets are paid out if any are placed and covered.

Bets go into a holding area out of a players wallet once placed until the duel is over or if the 5min LE timer expires then bets are returned to the bettor. Betting window records a players win/loss record in betting duels as well as isk earned or lost.

Bets should be able to be partially covered. If person A puts up 10mil on player X, then person B can bet anything up to 10mil on player Y. Or multiple people can cover person As bet up to the 10mil for a full payout for A or those betting against A.

So have two options in the right click duel drag down menu. One for regular duels and one with betting applied.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

What ban on gambling?

As far as I'm aware the ban is on transfers to third parties for games of chance.

There is no ban on direct ISK exchange between two parties at all and this proposal doesn't propose any third party involvement from what I can see. It seems to proposed something totally handled by the game.

As far as the idea goes, if it was limited purely to the 2 people involved in the duel, I'd probably get behind it. As it is proposed, too easy to scam.

It amounts to two guys sitting and watching the AT or some tourney going I got 10-100mil on so and so and the other guy covering it by saying sure youre on. Difference here is the holding of the isk out of wallet so you cant back out once the bet is made. Instead of third party or out of game third party it would be much like a very quick and dirty contract type setting based on a very specific outcome in eve, in this case the destruction of one ship versus another by that player over the duration of a LE.

Ironically it could be expanded for ATs and other tournaments, wars, etc later on if used a lot. Anything with a specific set of win/lose rules.

Because laws on what defines "gambling" differ from place to place and from one country to another, and because EvE is enjoyed by players all over the world it is unlikely you will ever see any form of in game gambling / betting supported by CCP.

One has to wonder how and why you cannot deal directly with the other players involved, why do you need an "official" system for this to happen?

So many ways to fix this, it would make jai-alia look legit.

The point of a duel in Eve is to allow 2 players to have some spur of the moment fun. Don't complicate it.

The point is less between the two players actually than bystanders being able to bet on the outcome. As you know I sit in Jita, one of the dual capitals of New Eden, I watch a lot of people dueling and it would be interesting to bet on the outcome of the duels sometimes.Blink

I'd like to see this too, although I suspect shortly after this being implemented, we'd see threads calling for the fixing of outside interference, like remote repping. Followed by the ususal suspects telling the OPs of these threads that they're crybabies and to get gud and that "This is eve." Sorry got salty for a moment there.
