Could NEC members let us know what's involved in volunteering? Personally, I'd be interested in helping with organizing the new Fiction Portal. My own specific questions:
-What duties are involved?
-Can volunteers pick which areas they want to help in?
-How much time commitment is needed (e.g., hours per week).
-How to volunteer (whom to contact)?

Side note: if you've applied in the past, it appears that the 'Applications' for signed-in accounts were lost in the website update (just redirects now). Might want to consider re-submitting once the contact is revealed.

I was wondering this as well. I've got a lot of interest in volunteering in helping where I can but I wasn't quite sure where to volunteer.

The link to the Volunteering page does not include NEC, IC, or Mercury and the application that is linked from ISD Mercury's home page links to a different application that might be a bit old.

So the questions I would add are:
- Where is the proper application?
- One of the applications mentions having a paid account for at least six months. Is this updated for Omega clones?

- The duties of the New Eden Correspondents mainly consists of what ISD:IC and ISD:M used to do; write/compile/gather lore/fiction for the fiction portal, figure out issues on the issue tracker that we can fix (or escalate those we can not).
- - We also write news stories for either in-game (player-generated) events, or in-character (lore) events.
- - Next to that, there are always other 'side-projects' we can work on.
- Overall, members are free to pick what they are working on, although the available choices may be limited due to running projects taking priority.
- The commitment we ask for is not really measured in hours per week, but more in the amount of work produced on a monthly basis. This is mainly because we are (painfully) aware how much of a nuisance this "real life" can be.
- The best place to join the ISD program is through the volunteers page, however, NEC is not listed there. (but will be soon™)... If you want you can leave me an evemail and I can give you a ping when we've been added.

Seeing the first one I already answered above (tl;dr: volunteers page ), straight to the second:
The current (active) requirements are listed on the volunteers page, but to copy/paste them:

Quote:
To be eligible for the Volunteer Program, you must be aged 18 or over and have an active EVE Online account. [...]
