Super Battleships ?

Hello,

With reference to my previous post (https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=6903562#post6903562),
I have been thinking about what new ships we could have.

So far, we have frigates, and their bigger brothers destroyers.

Same with cruisers and battlecruisers.

So, is there a reason for battle(battleships) not to exist ? Lets call them superBattleships for now.

It would be something like an Orca, but designed for fighting.

Ship purpose:
These ships, (just as the other counterparts) will have better tanking capabilities. While holding same, or slightly better dps.
Perhaps even give them ability to fit bastion modules or capital sized tank, for increased signature radius and worse mobility.

The main idea is to give the ship ability to survive small to mid scale engagemts, while not making it too OverPowerfull (OP) and mitigate the advantages when used en masse.

So, for solo pilots like me, it will give more options to fight small to mid sized gangs.
And on the other hand, using thousand of superBattleships will give you hardly an advantage over thousand of plain battleships.

Why this is important:
Current eve realities have changed. Regardless what people are saying about EvE, it has been steadily growing over the last few years.
More people playing - means the fleets are getting bigger and bigger.

Ten years ago a 2-3 ship gang was considered as a small, 5-10 was a medium, and 10+ was a large fleet.
Nowadays, anything below 10 ships is considered as a small fleet.

Battleships EHP doesnt suffice anymore. We need some tougher ship for this kind of situations. And superBattleships is the answer!

And really no need in saying this, but the more solo pilots we have, the more small gangs will be roaming around to fight them.
The more small scale gangs will be around, the more bigger fleets will look forward to fight them.
The more content, the more interesting EvE will become.

Yes Marauders. *cough*Roll

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

Since no one mentioned this before, I will point out that Marauders might fit the description, and are already in the game

BCs should be next for more hulls.

Especially considering there are no faction BCs except Gnosis.

Also: Maurauders.

This sounds familiar. Sounds like something I fly.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

Frigs are Tech I. Their bigger brothers, Destroyers, are also T1. Both use the sale size weapons.
Cruisers are T1, as are their big brother, battle cruisers. Both use the same size weapons.

Battleships are T1. Marauders are not. Conclusion: Marauders are not the big brothers of battleships.

Dreadnoughts do not use the same size weapons as battleships. Conclusion: Dreadnoughts are not the big brother of battleships.

A proper big brother of the battle ship would use the same size weapons as a battleship and be T1.

I would love to see a roaming Dreadnaught gang come through various pockets of Provi or try making the Catch loop.

You know Dreads can fit guns specifically for killing sub caps right? It is LITERALLY exactly what you asked for.

Have you looked into Merauders? I'm staggered you've had this much attention so far and nobody bothered to suggest them Pirate

Hisec version: Marauders, except they're overshadowed by certain faction battleships.

Everywhere else version: Dreadnought with high-angle weapons.

Naga, Talos, Oracle and Tornado can technically fit what you are looking for.
