Tornado, Talos, or something else?

not being a prfessional at WT myself i guess you would have to take it account locking times vs damage done, rate of fire, Warp scramblers etc.

I mean Tornado, nice damage done & quikish target rate .. but then you'd be sa to far away from gate or target to warp scramble. Now i know a lot of players just use frigs (maybe) .. i don't really know at all, but with a frig you have plenty of room for warp & web scramble, plus many guns to hammer it out with.

Only problem being if they have drones which would obliterate a frig.

Like i say, i ain't a pro not even a PvP, but thats what i come up with, maybe a BS with medium sized guns, hell even a BC.

Fast Locking, Webs, Lotsa DPS.

Depends on what you're expecting to come through the gate.

I would feel most comfortable in a Talos - its got better tracking and a drone bay. A fast locking arty tornado could also be pretty sexy.

Honestly unless you know what is coming through (previously stated) then you shouldn't be in a small tanked ship at all. Tier 3 BC's have notoriously small tanks and if you're camping a HS gate possibly for a mission runner that could be your doom. Think about a cap stable active tanked BS or BC coming through that gate and just walloping on you. Aside from the Talos with it's drones a strong Frigate could get in on you with high TV and kill ya. I popped a Naga in my Cruor like that.

In my experience if you're gonna be solo on a gate with no scout, something like a 100MN AB HAM Tengu/Legion is good with the active tank and dmg selection, plus they are quick enough to GTFO if backup arrives.

Other than that you could always do a BS, possibly Abby with Sebo, Point, Web and Cap booster in mids. Enough DPS to kill anything and tank enough to atleast play gate games if needbe.

Good luck.

Unfortunately a T3 is out of my price range, I figured that the tier 3 BCs would be the best gank:locktime:cost ratio, which is why I brought them up in the OP. I would be worried about quicker targets slipping through if I were in a BS.

Unless you spend a fair amount of slottage on sebos small stuff is going to slip away from Tier 3 BCs too.

I wound up going with a Myrmidon, realizing that a heavy tank was probably a good idea. This was the result. :)

Is the gatecamping WT soloing talos pointless?

It depends a massive amount on what is coming through. I used to use Ishtar or a classic tri-rep Myrm. Ishtar was dual-prop'ed with a brick tank and medium neut. Probably point, web and sebo in the other mids to maximise tackle.

But as I said it really depends on what is coming through and if you have an alt to scout the other side etc.

Regardless of ships, in general you need to think about...

1) Can you lock the target fast enough before it warps?
2) Can you stop it jumping back thru? (e.g using web and/or scram)
3) What happens if some of their buddies jump through? Can you gtfo or last long enough to kill them?
4) Can you kill the target quickly? You don't really want a 10 minute fight on a gate outnumbered.
5) Is your target likely to want to fight you or just warp and run.

You may find you miss targets a bit with a Ti3 BC if unless they are slow into warp or you are hoping to alpha-snipe.

GF,

What is your ECM/ECCM module? Not used to seeing that on many Myrm fits but it is intriguing.

Thanks. It's just a Multispec jammer, if you pay close attention to the red boxes you'll notice I get two or three jams off over the course of the fight. The fifth mid was kind of staring at me and a second cap booster wasn't needed, I figured it would help against multiple targets, which it wound up doing. :)

I figured as much, but it was tough to tell in the video. Great idea though. I am always torn since people use ECM drones all the time, but as a drone pilot I need my drones for DPS.
