Hi guys, i currently use two macs (MBP2009 & IMAC2007) to run my two accounts.

I was thinking or buying a 2017 - (27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display), and setting up a 3rd account. Would this Imac run 3 accounts with the highest graphic settings without any issues?

I was considering buying a PC rig and using a superwide screen, but i really dont want to get a PC to be honest.

Thoughts?

I would not buy a mac at this time... Apple has plans to release updated versions closer to the end of the year... As they have ****ed us over for a few years on updated hardware.

But it is your money!

Yeah my mate that follows them has now said t me that they are updating them.., so would you think that the latest one would handle 3 clients on high graphic settings?

I agree, dont buy a new mac now, the new "iMac Pro" are due sometime this year.
I really hope they are worthy.

MacPro (mid 2012) dual 6-core Xeon 3.06ghz, 64GB ECC Ram, PCIe-SSD, 2x SSHD, BD, SD, Nvidia Titan Xp. Running macOS Sierra 10.12.4.

The current 5k iMac would handle 3 clients very well depending on your graphic settings. I think the one i tested at best buy, i cranked it all the way and it kept a high FPS...
The thing i still say is, that their currently price is not good as Apple has plans to release new units this year (we will see how those plans pan out).

If you can't wait, and you live in the US, i'd look at a refurbished one, that way you can save some $$$$$$$

Hi,

i use one of this 27 inch imac's with max cpu / mem / GPU / ssd for several month now.

It runs fine with eve, there are only some small things:

1) if you run it with max grapfics settings in fullscreen mode eve chrases with out of mem because of 32 bit (wine) if there are more than a few ships on updock / gate. this is documented somewhere. a little bit lower settings and everything is stable.

2) if you run more then one client windowed with high settings and large windows and dont minimize the the "inactives" you start hearing the cpu/gpu fan.

3) the (experimentel) settings in the launcher for retina did not work.

If you are still looking to upgrade. Apple has finally released updated models.

Hi all,

Just thought I would jump in here as I received my 2017 iMac today.

Specs are;

3.8 GHz Intel Core i5
32GB 2400 MHz DDR4
Radeon Pro 580 8192 MB

and it runs like a dream!!

I just moved from a 4 y/o MPB to this, and it is worlds apart!

consistently getting 45-60 FPS with graphics up full, while running 2 clients. I have about 9GB of RAM 'free' according to CleanMyMac.

Loving it - would highly recommend!
