Space seams overcrowded

I'm only 30 days into the game so my view might seam silly, but on the weekends it seams there is very little quiet space anywhere. I had thought I had found a system off the main routes that I could use as a base of my growing industry and have at least become self sufficient in constructing my own ships and gear for exploration, but when the weekend gets here and I actually have more time to play it seams so does every pirate in the game. This leaves me replacing lots of ships or sitting in the pilots lounge. Any advice for a newer science/industry guy and is there any chance of them adding more space in the future?

No offense, but what's the problem with people in systems/space? That's the whole point of this game, a MMO game!

I'm doing production myself, and I have no problem with other people around, actually without plenty of other players I would not be able to do what I'm doing. Also there is plenty of empty space, there are regions you will not meet a single player for ten jumps even on weekends. But those are remote, why do someone wants to be there?

There is tons of empty space in EvE, If you're getting killed by pirates and trying to do industry then perhaps you are in the wrong location. You will need to either move somewhere else or learn to avoid/fight the pirates.

There are 5201 systems you can visit - not counting wormholes. At any given time, around 75% of the characters logged in will be in highsec - most within a few jumps of a trade hub. A lot of systems, particularly in the outer regions of nullsec, are rarely visited by players.

If you're getting shot in highsec, set the pirate corps red and dock up if you see them in local. If you are doing solo industry in low or null expect to die a lot - sovereign nullsec can be reasonably safe for industrial gameplay if you join a corporation in the alliance holding sovereignty in the area.

I guess so far my biggest problem with so many people around has been the hacking of relic/data sites for parts. The guides I have read so far recommend to just move on if a system is occupied and for the most part this seams to be the safest at least. I have been to the far edge of the universe in a few spots but so far at least it appears even there to be quite populated and the opposition to me being there seams even more organized.

It is good to hear though that there is space out there to explore, I will keep looking and do appreciate the fast responses. I shouldn't be harsh about the game being so popular, it's a very cool game. I can see why so many people are playing it.

Have a look here http://www.eve-scout.com

Wormholes are your friend to reach remote areas.

But most important, don't let yourself get frustrated from losses, they are part of EvE, learn from it, contact the player who killed you for tips to avoid dying next time. Those "pirates" are players too Blink, enjoying to set traps and outsmart other players to get kills and loot. Most of them are chill persons, and enjoy helping new players with the right attitude about.

Well, the weekend is definitely prime time for this game so you'll have to plan ahead for it. Maybe spend weekdays gathering Resources and then do Industry on the weekends.

This game has a long way to go before it actually gets crowded again like it was around 2012. On average there was about 40k players logged in during weekdays and on average 60k players logged in on weekends.

Anyway, keep looking for prospective systems and check Star Map stats for low population count, low amount of jumps, low amount of NPC kills, low amount of ships and pods killed, etc. Don't give up and eventually you'll find that sweet spot.

more players = more people blowing stuff up = more demand for what industrialists build

You will figure out to make your place in this fun virtual ocean reef (my favourite analogy for Eve). o7

if you are doing science/industry I suggest being where players are, you are mostly going to want to buy/sell things in trade hubs, you probably want to be a few jumps out to save on taxes, but close enough you can do material runs or be ready to drop off goods to sell.

as far as exploration goes I suggest learning to use the map, it can show a lot of different stats, you can cross reference what it says with zkill and dotlan. Dotlan shows some good stats over time for each system, here's jita as an example http://evemaps.dotlan.net/system/Jita/stats

Joining a low sec corporation/alliance would probably be your best bet.

You'll want to make sure it's active, but essentially you will have access to infrastructure, better ores (than highsec), cheaper corp taxes (assuming the corp/alliance you join isnt gouging you compared to highsec), and lastly you will have a good crew to play with.

Lowsec and nullsec are the place to go in my opinion.

You'll have to find a quieter system to operate out of. Personally, I'd love to see 3x as many people online so I hope they don't make eve bigger, just make it more popular and keep improving the servers so it can handle that many people.

Open ingame map "F10", go to "Star Map", then "Stars" and then the last one "Statistics". Here you can see things like pilots in space, pilots docked, ships destroyed, jumps,... Maybe with this information you can find a quiet place for you.

What is your definition of "quiet space"?

As examples, my definitions of "busy" based on systems I call home:

* hisec system: more than 2 others in local
* lowsec system: anybody else in local
* nulsec system: more than 9 in local

Example: when mining in hisec, I go to systems where there are less people in local than asteroid belts.

Tip: Amarr space is really empty (it is the largest hisec space). I "grew-up" there, though I'm Caldari.

Use dotlan. Most of the fan made websites are generally safe to use.
http://evemaps.dotlan.net/

When viewing region maps, you can set some filters up in the upper right part for 'number of jumps' for example (looks at your corp history) Sinq Liason.
http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map/Sinq_Laison/Dodixie#jumps

You can see some single digit systems that would indicate mostly that people just pass thru there. Do this for potential systems that you see then as you set down on that area get to know the locals/regulars, who is the hauler alts, who are mission runners, etc etc. Tag them into your contacts list and make note of who's who. For example in my mining system, I have populated my contacts with notes of what ships I saw them in, what time I usually see them, things they say in chat, places i've seen them, and so on.
