NPE: Purpose - Action Based Skill Point Gains + Seasonal Skill Unlocks

During the NPE Fanfest presentation, there was a segment on purpose ... so I figured here are my ideas on how to fill in that purpose role.

Action Based Skill Point Gains.

Do X gain SP which goes into your Skill pool.

The more you do X the less SP you gain, have diminishing returns.

The higher total SP your character has the less SP you gain per action.

Seasonal Skill Unlocks

Create Quarterly Seasons each with a specific goal which yields a unlock for a "non-alpha" clone skill. Maybe connect it to the season events? A Token can drop for alpha players that unlocks a specific non-alpha skill to use on that character.

A barrier use to be, I wish I can play EVE but I cant afford it. - Pre Alpha Clones

Another barrier is ... why should I play when I will never be able to match up with a veteran due to SP.
( My purpose is based on attempting to removing this barrier, even thou there are skill injectors - New players need another option )

No
Did I say no yet? if not then not only no but hell no.
Real time training balances the game well and it needs to stay that way. By this I mean that someone who can only play a few hours a week can train SP at the same rate as someone who can play several hours a day. This makes EvE unique and those of us that can only play several hours a week appreciate it. Not fair to new players you say and I say you have no clue. New players can train early game and core skills form nothing to level 5 in as little as a week, while an older character like this one can take 50 to 60 days to train level 5 only of just one single skill and that balances the SP gain across how old a character is.

If you want to complain about the new characters then the same basic concept from the above still applies. A new player that can only play a few hours a week is at an instant disadvantage to a new player that can play several hours every day.

In EvE you just need to face a few simple facts about the game.
1. SP is not the limiting factor that you seem to think it is. A character with 10 million SP can be just as capable in a drones ship as this 120 million SP character is and the same applies across any aspect of the game you want to look at. What that 10 million SP character lacks is the versatility and to be honest that needs to stay because that is one of the perks of committing long term to this game.

2. In EVERY computer game where characters controlled by 2 or more players are in competition with each other the new player is ALWAYS at the disadvantage because of in game character skills.

Interesting options, It all depends on how CCP sees the whole Alpha idea going forward. Your ideas would incentivise alphas to hang on, rather than either get bored or just go Omega. There would still be massive advantages in Omega though, so it has merit.

Are you trying to **** people off? If i want optimal training i not only have to grind but i have to partake in activities i wouldn't normally do?

You know whats great about the current system? It treats everyone the same no matter their RL commitments and gives us the freedom to do whatever we please without sacrificing anything.

The only people that benefit from grind ideas are bots and no-life grinders. Where as you are penalising people with jobs and families, especially new players that have jobs and families.

No way. -1000
