Cosmic Signature Generator

I had an interesting thought that could be kind of neat for generating bait content.

Cosmic Signature Generator: When anchored in system, it creates a cosmic signature that mimics a relic or combat site & must be scanned down. This could be used to bait people running DEDs for example, or dropped by those same relic runners or DED runners to and/or slow down hunters (so it serves both sides of the table in a sense).

Decays after 60 minutes, banned in Hisec (and probably banning in Thera would be a good idea b/c ppl would go nuts with it). I think it would need to be single use and cost a couple of mil so people don't just spam them (i.e. after they are dropped they cannot be re-scooped).

Might be good, might be stupid. Not quite sure. Thoughts?

I think it'd be more interesting if it was either an Anom and you could scan down the module to catch it before you warp to it, or if there was some other kind of counter play to it beyond "Try to warp at 100" or something similar.

Not really sure how much actually interesting gameplay this would provide though, and I definitely don't think it should be banned in Thera. If people spam the things then that's how it goes, make it more expensive to make spamming impractical the same way it is with a lot of the other higher power deployables.

Probably this would be a good way to go. Now that I think about it, banning it in Thera is silly b/c that's probably where it would see a lot of action.

Horrible idea: (id use worse words but id get me response locked)

So you want explorers to spend time scanning down signatures just to warp to their own death or to warp to nothing?

If you want to, you can scan down a signature and wait there or bookmark it and pop in when you think someone might be there, stop being a lazy (again comments removed so i dont get me reply banned) !!!!

Stupid idea. It adds more tedious scanning to waste time on and frustration when a signature turns out to be a fake, and the idea of using them as bait is not going to work because any reasonably smart player is going to be warping in cloaked at something other than 0km. They warp in cloaked, see your trap ship sitting in empty space instead of a site, and warp out without you ever seeing them. And that's assuming you take a combat recon and don't get caught on d-scan, if they see a combat ship on d-scan they're certainly not going to be warping into your trap.

I don't see how this is superior to just waiting at a relic/combat site in a cloaky gank ship.
