Secure PLEX trading outside the game

What if you had your plex where you are its true owner. You could take the plex out of the game, trade it with another player who could introduce if to the game is consume it? The game, or anyone else, would not know who the owner of the plex is, until the owner shows his/her proof of ownership.

You could buy the plex, or any other item in fact, outside the game, trade it trustlessly, safely and securely with anyone.

This could be accomplished by tokenizing the plex into a blockchain. One token would hold hold one plex, or any fraction of it, and any relevant information, like the location of it.

This would be a technological breakthough for eve online, as no other game yet has this implemented. Soon to be released tokenized blockchain games like Spells of Genesis and Beyond the Void will be trying this approach.

I think the planning and organizing this would be the most time consuming step, as it could easily be implemented using the Ethereum blockchain. The how-to manual for Ethereum programming language, Solidity, probable has a sample code to produce this.

How do you stop real money trading with that system?

This seems like an incredibly complicated system with high stakes for any failures, for zero apparent gain besides "LOOK AT ME WE HAVE SPACE BITCOINS". IOW, no.

You learned about BitCoins, good for you. Will a blockchain for PLEX be of any benefit to EVE? I doubt it.

Okay... so... why?

If anything this would increase the amount of RMT, not decrease. By obscuring the ownership of plex, CCP wouldn't be able to follow audit trails when they go on the RMT warpath with their hammer of +10 banning.

Yeah no, for all of the reasons already stated. There is absolutely no point to making in-game PLEX tradable outside the game except to facilitate RMT which is explicitly against the Eve TOS.

If you want to buy your friend game-time there are easy ways to do so inside the game, and if you need to give your friend money for game-time outside the game you can take an appropriate unit of currency out of your real-life physical wallet and hand it to them.

Why?

Congratulations, if your proposal was introduced, then we would have the situation where RMT was officially approved, CCP would require a banking licence, and the first sanctions busting transaction which would be completely out of their control, would wipe them out of existence.

Do you work for Riot?

Ps Legal has had to call in the paramedics to deal with all the heart stoppages.

There is a VERY good reason why other games have not introduced it.

Those you claim are considering it, haven't spoken to the grown ups yet.
