A real Fix for FW

I am not in faction warfare anymore but after seeing another - 'there is no reason to plex - gaining systems means nothing' in the middle of the usual Caldari vs Gallente FW forum trolling - I thought I would post my thoughts.

Fixing FW is simple and will not break eve + it would make low sec interesting, plexing worthwhile and encourage pvp.

1. A low sec gate or Station should NEVER EVER shoot it's own navy. Yes I understand the consequences of this and maybe some sort of check and balance needs to be in place - but you either control/own the system or not.
This would actually balance low sec and make it possible to fight gate camps by pirate corps.
Militias will want systems and plexing would be considered a very worthwhile thing to do.

2. Docking should not be allowed in enemy stations.

3. NPC Navy's should be switched off - just hit the delete button on their code - they are counter productive and just stop engagements from occurring between people who have agreed to be at war.
Not being able to dock in enemy space balances the removing of the NPC navy's.



From a technical point of view - Is it easy to trial changes like no npc navy or is it a big re-work on the game?
If its just the matter of changing a 1 to a 0 - then why not try things like this?

What do people think - good idea or not?

3. No, this effects more than just the FW - a person with -5 standing to a faction could easily go into their high sec systems.

regarding 3)
this would break FW more as you think. Thats a major consequence of being in FW to not be able to travel through enemy territory safely (e.g afk). Removing police NPCs (without some kind of replacement) would make all space equal and boring. No war and no enemy border anymore, only random orange pilots which you can shoot for some reason.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

1. No it's just too exploitable for non FW purposes.

2. Seen this many times and still don't agree, I just feel it is to limiting over peoples play time not being able to dock or resupply and see no issue with people being docked in enemy stations. If the issue is station games and using the station as an escape route then prevent docking when aggressed/with aggression timers from/for the enemy militia.

3. Again no, I think the consequences would perhaps go to far, perhaps reducing the strength of the navy in the lower sec high sec area's but that is as far as I would go.

Not sure what you are aiming to fix but it sure as hell isn't FW.

1. Does nothing beyond make FW a haven for cowardly noobtastic pirates. Besides, why create mechanics that encourage lame-ass station/gate camping?
2. Assuming you mean militia stations: zero impact or close enough to be irrelevant. Not all FW systems have militia stations and most system with militia stations have other NPC stations.
In case you meant all stations in hostile space: Will never happen. CCP has said more than once that they are not about to deny docking in NPC stations .. has been brought up in regards to NPC null space as well as FW space.
3. Oh dear, so you are CCP Soundwaves (aka. CCP Eejit, aka. CCP FWhat?, aka. CCP MarblesLostToRectalExperimentation) character. It was dumb when he made the suggestion and remains dumb .. adds nothing at all to FW, quite the opposite. High-sec will be perma-camped by noobtastic wanna-be's and you make FW a no-fly zone for everyone but the fearless contrary to design intent.

What you should have said:
1. Sort out plexes (read: NPCs) as that is where the really fun fights happen (or can happen), takes the fight away from neutral/blob interference, drop possibility and oversizing.
2. Fee for docking in enemy stations, based on standing to opposing faction with a hard minimum. Services cost a butt-load over "normal" also based on standings OR prohibited entirely in all enemy stations.
3. Still no idea what the hell Soundwave intended and since yours is a copy of his I can't make a counter suggestion .. utter nonsense from start to finish.

By far the most important change they could make is to introduce tangible benefits to getting occupancy. Has to be in a way that is non-exploitable and won't result in mobbing of "winning sides" .. hence the difficulty and disagreement I reckon Smile

PS: Sorry Soundwave, but your flip-flopping crowd-pleasing ways get under my skin .. not meant as harshly as it may appear Big smile

Some good replies with some valid points. Thanks.

But - it seems some can only criticize and then post insignificant changes that will accomplish nothing.
I understand that change scares some people -

Hirana don't be afraid - you will still be able to farm LP.
After removing half my brain to help understand your post it seems you have invented a great story in your own mind.
So to ruin your fun.
I am just a casual eve player - not someone from CCP.
I did not know about CCP Soundwaves suggestions. I have not read them. (I will look for them after posting this)
BUT - from what I gather from your post - He must be on a similar line of thinking on one or more of the issues I mentioned.

SO Hirana - Keep your loony conspiracy theories to yourself - I hope CCP Soundwave got a good laugh out of you. I sure did.

Everything I posted I have said before in various other forum posts/chat channels over the years and other players can back that up - this was just it all condensed in one thread for the purpose of CONSTRUCTIVE discussion.
Please learn the facts before you comment as I didn't start this thread just so you could make yourself look backward or foolish.
You say the ideas wont work - but fail to say why. If an increase gate camping is your only issue then I would suggest you are playing the wrong game.
